Nearly right. Nobody should be involving supermods period. Those worth talking to know who they are and take all the ribbing in the spirit I and others intend it. The Brexit thread is an example of nobody taking themselves too seriously but the snowflakes don't get it.
Priorities... Nothing here can be so important as to take up time you should be spending elsewhere. You get all the angst and by the time you have sorted it we have all moved on to fresh casting grounds.
When someone reports a post, does it automatically involve the Super Mods or just alert our own? For the record I never clicked report I’m just curious as it seems (and I could be miles off the mark) Glory believes the Supermods were alerted as one of our posters alerted them yet I’m reading it as Bucks handed it over to them?
Look guys, here's that interference again......... Some may occasionally feel victimised, but there is a middle road in all this and that's why this club forum is so successful. It's down equally to the excellent posters in general on here in conjunction with the easy going moderation - yes, very laid back believe me. There are club forums out there run by "offended vicars" who take to the smelling salts with the slightest suspicion of "conflict" whether between club members or more often than not, with visitors. They delete posts, threaten bans and wave the big stick around as though they own the bloody site. As I said, involving supermods is an absolute last resort, but they are there for a purpose because club moderators have limited powers. Most (practically all) issues will go away with sensible moderation at local level - and that includes dialogue not threats. You can't be on here 24/7, but when necessary, I talk to my club posters in public on the board (or PM if sensitive) and try to help resolve any friction. From memory I've only ever had to resort to requesting a ban for one poster about 5 years ago and he was a serial nutter.
Just to set the record straight. I mean every word I type otherwise I would not waste my time posting. Sometimes jokeing/humour sometimes trying to wind someone up sometimes Just plain fishing sometimes just giving my opinion an a topic. How on earth anyone can take offence is beyond me. If things get heavy just use And walk away. After all when you start reading a thread anyone with the smallest amount of intelegence knows where it is going. If you don't like it don't be nosey and stop reading. That's my opinion any way.
I made my post before reading bucks post and based it on previous experience. Yes if you report it goes to the supermods. But I have only ever done it in jest to report a mod.. Clearly there are some who want to take everything seriously, some who take nothing seriously and some who want to take things seriously only when it suits them. It’s this third group that imo are the problem
Just for the record, I have no idea if anyone else got involved, but I made a post in said thread expressing my frustration about the topic in discussion( which had been done to death in 2015) and then Pm'd Bucks, asking him to delete my account from here (which obviously he has yet to do), I'd never even noticed the report button until Ristac mentioned it above I've made no secret that I have an issue with a certain poster on here ( btw that poster is on ignore), but since that poster has returned we have had numerous threads become derailed about the same topic, including one of our own mods creating a brand new tread about said topic in an effort to wind up another poster, after yet another daily thread had become derailed over the same subject (this was back in November 2017), and this has only persisted because this certain poster is unable to accept facts and figures publicly available for anyone to read , over his own "knowledge and mystical figures". Just for the record this has nothing to do with the two posters involved, as I said one is on ignore, and I take the others predictions of doom exactly how its meant to be taken, this is to do with my own and other posters failings to turn the other cheek and not get involved in the petty squabbling of two users, especially in my own personal case when I know one is factually incorrect, and that is why Bucks was asked to delete my account, because for one reason or another I know that if this comes up again, my very nature will compel me to read and want to become involved, and thus from my point of view it will be so much more idyllic if I read the forum anonymously without the temptation of as seems to be a common phrase on here these days "taking the bait"
Aski as one of the protagonists you mention I would hate for you to leave so hopefully bucks forgets all about deleting your account. The situation you refer to has in my opinion long since passed any serious points being made and on all sides is more about gentle mocking of the other side. Take my comments with a pinch of salt, you know that I never use this forum to make a serious comment about anything... Good to see you still here. If truth be told even I don’t think the other protagonist was entirely incorrect but there is no way I would say so if asked.... oh bugger To be frank I am bored with the underinvestment and false promises in lufc and it’s only the banter here and good lads that lead to me still being here. How much have I switched off I am planning on watching Harrogate town next season and have arranged to meet up with some charlton fans on 606 when they come up to their Accrington game on 18 August.
Hi Aski Would be a shame to lose you but I’d like to add something here... In regards to the poster you’re referring too Leeds60, prior to his ban I got on terrible with him I felt like I was being played, at the time I was glad he got banned if I’m honest. During the build up to it all in a general conversation with LCW he bluntly told me just to ignore him, he pointed out something that stuck. Leeds60 is of the older generation, he is someone’s dad and grandad, how would I feel if it were my own family member. With that in mind when Leeds60 returned I ignored or smiled at the things that used to bug me, you have to accept he is from an older generation and right or wrong this country doesn’t treat our elders with any respect. If he comes over in a “know it all” fashion I ignore it, on a forum it is easy to get misinterpreted and when you only take in the football related stuff then he is as valuable here as the rest. As I get older I feel I’m ignored more, less important than I used to be, I love telling stories of my past to the younger generation and I guess we all have a level that we are willing to go to when we sell ourselves to those who are willing to listen, mine stops shorter than many others but that might change as I continue to age. Some people are happy with the banter and fishing others aren’t and Leeds60 being one of our more mature members is one that doesn’t take well to it. Is he guilty sometimes of goading Glory yes but he is often (not always) cleverly goaded in by others. The bait/fishing is a crap excuse for getting away with being a forum bully, I know in my mind many of the claims are an easy get out clause when the line has been overstepped. Some of the stuff said and the person saying it would be knocked out or chinned if it were face to face long before they could say I was fishing or casting. I think some see fishing/baiting as being the same as banter, maybe it is but for me there is a fine line often overstepped
Aski made a serious point, both Ristac and I responded sensitively and within two minutes here are you casting a size 32 hook skewered through a juicy blood worm.. Bucks should be taking an axe to your account. Never again say you don’t do fishing..l
