...let’s not look back to find out who though. No need...move on. Goodness look at that really interesting thing over there behind you...
Best WC in living memory for me, beats Italia 90 and France 98, can't remember too many appalling games, the **** house teams all seemed to get rightly ****ed off in good time, yes i'm talking about you south and middle america and Portugal, England played well and exceeded expectations, France worthy winners. Real shame if Qatar gets changed to a 48 team tournament, expanding the Euros to 24 led to the most boring tournament in living memory I fear the same for the WC, it's working well now expanding it to include a swathe of piss poor teams will dumb the standard down and **** it up.
They may well have won it anyway but the reason they did is because the system put in place to reduce the number of referee fails, failed. Not fit for purpose. Bin it.
On the VAR front, the technology is not at fault, ultimately the referee made a decision, some think he was right, some wrong, but it was not the fault of VAR that the French got a penno. It's done so much more good than bad in this WC, changed a couple of howlers and prob responsible for a few of our penalties due to the highlighting of the rugby tackling in the area. Long may it live I say.
It’s too exclusive & not fit for purpose. If it can’t be used for every decision over 90 minutes it shouldn’t be used at all. Used correctly France’s first goal should also have been chalked off & Griezmann booked. Whole different game after that.
VAR cannot be used for every decision or a game would take longer than an American Football match, it is designed for the crucial moments and has been used well. With or without VAR that first French goal would have happened, VAR does not increase the number of bad decisions, but will decrease them overall, and that can only be a good thing no?
Exactly. If it can’t cover it all it’s not fit for purpose. Crucial moments? Like diving to win a free kick that you subsequently score from? Every moment is crucial because it determines the remainder of the game.
No need to watch football at all to tell that VAR failed. It's obvious like a fact that all France goals were fair ones. Top stuff and no nonsense from the ref.
That was never a pen. This is where VAR is flawed. When the panel ask the ref to take another look, 9 times out of 10 he gives a pen because he thinks he has to...Surely the ref should be the only one to ask the panel to take a look at it because he is not sure. Then the panel should decide if its a pen not the ref. Good final for once. Shame Croatia lost because I thought they were the better side, but France do look as if they're entering a new golden period.
What a crock of ****e some of you post. The Best team won the World Cup ... We got given a cake walk to the Final and didn't even know how to turn the Gas on.!!! Wake up and smell the Coffee .... FFS
It was a pen, he pushed the ball down with his arm and VAR confirmed that Croatia dominant for 12 mins when france couldn't even get in the opposition half and bossed the first half despite going in 1 down Second half two great finishes from pogba & mbappe a howler from lloris would have never been forgiven if they weren't 4-1 up worthy champs, croatia brilliant runners up fantastic world cup & final good night
Useless **** loris, great gk to be fair, and I had the correct score. Not that it cost me... Embarrassing thread this. France by far the better team .clear penalty. Var did its job.
