Close run penalties will always be given on review as any contact will be exaggerated....on the other hand if you wrestle someone to the ground....
Because he pushed the ball away and out with his hand. I thought it was an instinctive movement, but agreed with the ref that it’s a pen.
Yep. Also, watch his hand 'flap' when it hits. That's not what happens when the player tries to cut the ball out. Surprised he gave that, but then, eight French players in his face didn't help matters!
The French benefiting from a hand ball, deliberate and not deliberate in the WC?... please log in to view this image
Agree for once with Tom. His arm was coming down as he was landing, and his sight was impeded. Look to me he made a last second act to get his arm out the way.
France trying it on a bit here. Come on Croatia. Think they need to start applying the same ref pressure.
Watching my first minutes of the WC (tennis won over the last couple of weeks) and the 1st thing I see is a ridiculous penalty given. Come on, Croatia!!
Is it a penalty? Borderline in my view. I'm slightly on the side of it not being a penalty (largely because his arm is down by his side), but I do think there is an element of his hand going towards the ball. If the referee gives a penalty there (original decision), then I'm not complaining. But again, it's irrelevant. There is no way that it is clear and obvious. That is the relevant point, and they've got it wrong.
