It’s amazing how our midfield was arguably our weakest area for the past few seasons and could potentially be our best. Fabinho Keita and hopefully Fekir would be immense.

Yes - it was very weak, on par with defence. It won’t get the attention because the mistakes that the keeper and defenders make are more visible and easier to scrutinise.

Whilst the midfield didn’t make high profile errors, there were inefficiencies and it was masked by our brilliant attack. They were unable to pass through lines, dribble past players (bar Ox), create, control games, dictate tempos.

Our midfield have a specific skillset which is work hard, and not much else.

The two new lads and potentially Fekir are huge upgrades.

Agreed. Midfield was definitely our weakest area last season.

The defence got much better once Karius, TAA, VVD and Robbo came in to play alongside Lovren.

so what is the weakest part of the team then jimmy?

everyone says new lb needed, new keeper needed, possibly another cb needed.

midfield was always could do better and have them as back up. cant say i want the same in defence just get rid.

Shaqiri is on a box as well.
Tbh, I think it's a bit much of JK to call him a no-brainer when he's only just met him.

Don’t think we need a new LB. Robbo has claimed that and I think Moreno provides decent depth.

IMO - we still need 4 players. That includes Fekir.

    The other 3 are:

New keeper - either a back up or a new number one. Ideally, we buy a new number 1.

RCB - we can’t go into the new season with Lovren / Matip starting. I don’t care that everyone is now sucking Lovren off. Truth is, he’s not good enough and never will be.

Another attacker - I know we bought Shaqiri but I still feel we need one more quick attacker to provide depth in attack. (This is a lesser priority).

After Fekir, I want GK and RCB sorted

I'd play Milner before Moreno. In fact, I'd buy Balotelli back and play him at LB before giving Moreno a game!

Moreno was actually solid for the first half of last season before his injury. <ok>

If he’s sold, then we’ll have to replace but I wouldn’t actively look to do it just yet.

The entire team prior to klopps arrival was playing below it's level or bang average.

    E.g..

    Mingolet
    Clyne lovren sahko moreno
    Henderson Milner
    Firmino Lallana coutinho
    Benteke

Skertl, Allen, can, Lucas, sturridge origi, ings gomez, bogdan, stewart

The first thing klopp did was change to 433, secure Matip on a free and ship out benteke in favour of mane.

    Karius/ming
    Clyne Matip lovren milner
    Lallana Henderson windy
    Mane firmino coutinho

This instantly improved firmino and lfc played very well til mane went on international duty and got injured.

Last year he wanted kieta and vvd but only got one in january and lost coutinho but did get salah. Clyne got injured and so did lallana

    Karius
    Gomez lovren vvd robertson
    Ox Henderson milner/windy
    Salah firmino mane

This year...... ehonknows but rumours suggest

    Allison
    Taa lovren vvd robertson
    Kieta Henderson fekir
    Salah firmino mane.

Leaving only Henderson and lovren and firmino in first team.

Bench could be karius, matip, gomez, clyne, fabinho, milner, lallana, shaqiri, wilson, one of sturridge, ings, origi

As of now only ox is a long term injury.

Slowly things are taking shape over klopps tenure.

I would in fact argue that attack is what he first transformed as we lacked goals under Rodgers. He has added to defense and this summer midfield has been his priority.

So no our midfield hasn't been the only weak area. it has been the area it's taken longest for klopp to get his man.

Do we have 3 go to subs now? In cl final my mate commented prior to real subs exactly who would come on and for who. Bale came on and won final for them.

Who do we have now? Shaqiri, lallana, Wilson, fabinho.... sturridge or origi? Really the ability now for players to come in for the first 12 without affecting site and ability is the key to how well we do.

Take salah off for shaqiri... will it still work. thats the key.

Can’t see Fabinho being on the bench. He should be our starting 6.

Shaqiri was a risk worth taking, obviously the club thought this as well

Klopp will get the best out of him if it's there to be got

One thing I do like about Shaq is he seems to be quite a tough player and we need that

Same with Keita and Fabinho. They have a bit of grit and steel to their game which is badly missing from our team. Players who stand up when the going gets tough.

He just managed not to **** up for a while, not the same as being solid, imo.
The only thing I'd use Bert for is as a sub, further up the field, with someone reliable behind him. He's fast, and he tackles back quite well, but he's too rash.
