I agree.....if you remember though even J Rod needed a couple of seasons to make his mark.....So Im thinking could Sam G be another Jrod in the making??

 

With Sam Gallagher at 6"4, Vestergaard at 6"7, and Hoedt at 6"3, we could be bloody handy at set pieces this season.

 

Well whatever happens to him, I think we should not loan him out this season, tell him this is his chance and see what happens. Would rather have been able to use him last season than buying Carillo.

 

That's fine as long as JWP is on the pitch as he has been the only one in the past couple of seasons who can deliver a decent (often great) delivery
Hopefully Mo can take corners too

I think he will too.

But we still need another proven goalscorer imo - not necessarily a striker, but someone who is capable of getting in the box and scoring 10 goals plus per season.

 

We need a good striker Gabby can play off. Charlie has been a stop gap albeit a very injury prone one.

 

I wouldn't want to play any two of our current strikers at the same time. Armstrong as no.10 instead.

I don't think they had poor seasons, but I certainly think they had poor ends of season. In Bertrand's case, the last (circa) two months. In Cedric's case, the last (circa) four months.

At Xmas I could see us losing either or both this summer. But by the end of the season, I had absolutely no worries whatsoever of either going (subject to staying up). And I still don't. So I absolutely agree with you in not finding it weird.

 

For me:
Gk is ok
Defence is ok
Midfield still need something more; promes or sisto or someone
Striker still need 1 more - were desperate in jan got carillio but now he is gone

 

What's Bertrand got left contract wise?

 

For me there’s no question we need another striker. Long is 31 and has only scored 10 goals in the Premier League once while Gabbiadini is 26 and has never scored 10 goals in a season. Austin is a perfectly good striker and one of my favourites but I’m not sure we can afford to rely on him.

 

Signed a 4.5 year deal in Feb 2015, so just a year left now.

 

Interesting comment. Just watched his goal in China and it reminded me of a Jay Rod finish.

Shame we can't just bring back Jay, but heigh ho.
