It depends how you see it. This isn’t my opinion by the way, I’m just throwing an alternative angle at it.

Someone could argue that Boufal didn’t deliver. Carrillo definitely didn’t deliver. We replaced Tadic. Sims could be argued as the Boufal replacement (if above is true. What’s to lose) and the right service to Gabby/Charlie (if fit) strikes a cord. Shane still here to run a round and chad people off the bench.

Not my opinion, but a flip side someone could offer.

I can see them settling for one more attacking option. £15-20m and that’s a net spend of £20m (approx) after the left over Dickhead cash.

Sure, but we were really short last year, too. So perhaps we've replaced Tadic with Elyounoussi, and backfilled Boufal with Sims, and Carrillo basically doesn't exist...but we're still short of the attacker we were short of in January, and the summer, and getting the right service for Gabbi/Charlie is hindered when we're relying on mostly the same people who didn't provide service to them previous, and we're actually shorter in depth than in the past season. I understand this isn't your perspective, but I hope it isn't the club's, either.

It wasn't numbers we were short of last season, but players doing a good job, so I'm not doing a body count....just want the team to get their act together.

P.s. We do need another striker.

What if Sam is seriously in Marks plans? Perhaps that is what they are thinking. He's getting a good pre-season.

The starting XI could look a lot different under Sparky than much of Pellegrino's time here (before Xmas).

    These players being in contention

    Keeper Alex/Angus
    Def Bednarek/ Jan V/Targett
    Mid Armstrong/ Mo/Sims/Hesketh
For Chaz/ Gabbi being fit and given more chances and Big Sam

If another Striker comes I certainly won't complain but it's a little early to say that we are short yet IMO.

If we lose any first teamers then that will alter the perspective a little.

Possibly one more...... emphasis is moving towards getting a few out of the door via loan deals or a transfer.
Jordi back to Holland will be next move

I think and hope that Sam G is going to stay and get some chances to plau, thought he was aa pretty good prospect when he first broke into the team and he's since had arguably 2 good loan spells at a decent level, why not give him a go, think he could do well.

He should have been given Carillo's chance.

I was just going to ask why there is no mention of Sam G........He didn't do too bad while out on loan............As you Say he is the replacement for Carillo so maybe we don't need another striker.

I see Liverpool have signed Shaqiri. He says he's joined because he wants to win titles. :emoticon-0138-think

That'll mean Adam will be on his way 'cos he failed to win the titles that he wanted to...:)

Shaq just does not strike me as a Klopp player. Very interested to see how it pans out.

Can't see either of them getting much of a look in unless someone gets injured.

From watching a bit of the Chinese friendly, it looked like we were playing a 3-4-2-1 formation.
If that’s the intended default then I would guess that the two players behind the striker as sort of inside forwards would be Armstrong & Moi. That would leave Redmond, Sims & Hesketh in reserve.

You’d have Gabbiadini, Austin, Long & Gallagher competing for the lone striker role.

Obviously you can argue about the quality of those individuals, but we will have to shift some players on and that doesn’t include the more obvious departures of Davis & Boufal from the more advanced positions

I hope I’m proved wrong, but I didn’t think he’d make it then and his loan spells at Blackburn and Birmingham haven’t convinced me otherwise.

If he had the same minutes as Carillo, do you think he'd have done better or worse?
I really think he would have been useful. Not kicked on like he should have, but his fathers passing away and the team we had that year didn't help him.

I really don’t know HR. I don’t think either are Premier League quality.

AS I've said before, I think last season was the one if he were to make it with us. We'll surely never be as short in attacking options. Be great if he can bully his way into the team (save us a bundle as well), but we'll just have to wait & see.
