Not really, both Bale and Modric came out and said Levy went back on his word, after he'd agreed to let them leave.
I don’t recall Bale ever saying that. His agent claimed there were problems, but then he would. He wanted a big fat juicy pay cheque,
We offered more for Bale that summer than Real Madrid did. Levy turned that down and then tried to force Madrid to match our bid. Bale thinks he's a prick, that's why he'll sign for United and volley the baldy pigeon in the face next time he sees him.
And this from the Torygraph suggests it’s all been overhyped Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas said on Sunday that he expected Bale to be back in London on Tuesday after giving the forward the weekend off. However, unlike the rest of his team-mates, the Welshman did not turn up for training at the club's training ground in Enfield on Tuesday morning. Sources in Bale's camp played down suggestions that the player has become "furious and frustrated" with Tottenham's handling of his proposed world-record transfer to Real Madrid. Yet it is clear that all three parties involved did not expect the saga to drag on for this long. Real first indicated their interest in Bale two months ago, but, with less than a week left of the transfer window, the 24 year-old remains a Spurs player. The hold up could well have been due to the late bid, reportedly by Utd
I don't have a preferred version. Every outlet was quoting Bale as saying he was 'Furious and Frustrated' with Levy at the time.
Except Bale himself saying anything. All reportedly, and the only word from his camp played down the suggestion.
All of those reports have him quoted as saying he was 'furious and frustrated'. His camp only 'played down' the suggestion when his move was sanctioned. You're trying to make out that Levy isn't a ****, but the same thing happened with Modric too. He was even more scathing of Levy.
"I must say that I am genuinely disappointed about what Levy said to me. He didn't care about what I was telling him. It all only convinced me further that I was right to consider moving on to another club. He threatened me - he said if I didn't accept the club's stance, they would make me sit on the bench or in the stands." Luka Modric http://en.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/100342.html
