From the Echo on the subject of Forster's future: Saints are respectful of Forster’s contribution to the club and so are keen to do the best by him and don’t want him to leave under a cloud. If a move could be found then it would seem to be in everybody’s best interests for it to happen.

My point in posting this is the bit about respect for Forster's contribution to the club. We were happy to have him here for some time and he has been a good keeper for us. For whatever reason, his form has deteriorated. It isn't his fault he was offered a massive contract....we wouldn't turn it down, would we? He could resurrect his career elsewhere, so let's hope something can be found for him which would suit all parties.

 

We need a signing to cheer us up. We must be in for a striker surely after letting Carrillo go but there doesn't seem to be any rumours.

 

No blame lays with Forster for his situation, the club should never have offered him the deal in the first place. I bet him and his agent couldn't believe their luck.

Hmmm, very different scenarios actually. Rangers Football Club were liquidated and the players contracts were not transferred to Newco so Davis et al could walk away without censure. At Sporting the President paid their Ultras to attack the players (!!!!) so many of them have quit via lawyers using employment law. I suspect they’ll be fine but it will drag on until UEFA and FIFA have intervened.

 

Oh yeah I didn't mean in terms of how the players came about being free, just that a load of players were "free" and the club losing them was always going to contest it. Gelson Martins who is one of the bigger names who left is going to Atletico for €15m and a couple of players going to Sporting on loan (including Vietto who we have been linked with in the past), so I think Sporting will manage to get fees for anyone who does leave.

 

Well if some clubs pay a fee for those who quit and others feel they've signed a free agent that's going to muddy the waters that's for sure. Mind you, we paid for Davis when all the others went for nothing and that came to nothing I believe.
