Not sure they over achieved. They beat teams who you'd like to think they would stand a good chance in beating. But I know what you mean. So called better England teams in the past would not have performed as well and would have struggled against the lesser teams and would probably have went out against Colombia. The future looks brighter than I thought about a month ago.

Proud I was tonight, needed the 2nd goal in the 1st half. Wanted Rashford on earlier - then the lad had a mare. Never mind they all will benefit from a great run to the semi’s - considering many thought they wouldn’t get out of the qualifying stage. Hope they carry this to European nations. Once again proud of them tonlght. ❤️

So, due to this poor result, are you not renewing your season card?

Slight contradiction there really. To say we’ll never get a better chance then say we’re building a very good England team?

Think it’s harder to take because the first half we were so dominant and in the lead, feels like we’ve thrown it away rather than lost it.

    Not really Marcus.

The draw opened up in unbelievable fashion.

Southgate is building something that could be special.

Both true and not contradictory at all.

One result from this world cup is that my interest in the team has increased dramatically. That's alot more than I expected. Wasn't gonna watch them at all but I jumped in and out of the England games more often than expected

Didn't help going to ten men after making final sub. Think game had gone by then anyhow.

Should have put the game to bed in the first half.

But we performed way above any expectations. I’m relaxed about the end result. We just need a real playmaker up top.

Anyway. Onward and upward. Well doneEngland. The love is back. Getting pissed for the hell of of it..

Gary Neville made the point that in the next days it will start to leak out that he picked up an injury in the Columbia game.

I agreed with that. But with Vardy carrying an injury and Sterling's struggles in front of we really had no choice but to stick with Kane, who had cleatly lost his sharpness.

As for Croatia, who were my dark horses for this WC, they've had the best midfield and were just the better team tonight.

    They won't best France though.

To all who say that was our best chance to get to the final, don't forget that's the youngest ever England squad at a championship and Southgate always said his target was 2022.

This over-achieving young squad have had an extraordinary experience they can build upon and the future looks more promising than I can ever remember.

Not to mention the fact that we've recently done really well in the youth tournaments which are brilliant indicators of what's to come.

We have no subs though that is the problem, players like Milner who could get down the left wing were not there, blew a great chance again vardy and wellbeck not given enough games either what happened to the attack In the second half, let Croatia come at us too much.

Exactly. We've won several tournaments recently.

I said at the start of the finals that I'd lost my interest in the national side but hoped Pickford would have a good competition.
Well I've been pleasantly surprised by how well this young squad has done and of course young Jordan showed the rest of the country what we all knew so well done all round.
The future looks bright we definitely need a creative midfielder who can pick the killer pass so onwards and upwards.
well done England and Mr Southgate.

I just wish Jordan could add attacking instinct to his game. Think that would make him utterly complete.

He had a chance late on last night to shoot from about 25 yards and he picked the pass instead, then he blazed over from the rebound.

He's been the focal point of the team, keeps them ticking, just maybe needs to be a bit more ruthless.
