Yes, the way they dressed and the haircuts made them appear older, plus they seened a lot more serious.
My dad was 42 in 1966. I was certainly different in my way of acting when I was 42.<laugh>
That was my last year at school. I thought the headmaster was some old chap who had stayed on after retirement in a sort of Mr Chips away. When he died I was 50. When I looked at his age in the paper I backdated his age and in 1966 he was 45.The difference between him and all those of my age was totally unbelieveable.

I’ve just had similar with an old Primary School teacher. I thought she was retirement fodder when I was about 7. She died a few months back aged 83. She’d have been 40ish when she taught me.

France did them with a set piece.. and you might not know this but after we beat Sweden, France's TF1 channel led with "Kick & Rush pays off for the English"!!!

They hadn't even watched the game then, it was a pre-ordained headline more in stereotypical expectation than in knowledge..

I thought Belguim would have shaded this one, had the possession, but couldn't get the goal. Mbappe looks a player though if we make it though he will need to be watched.

I think we could beat Belgium in the final I don't think we can beat .France. Unfortunately.

Pains me to say it but a combined frog English 11 would only see 3 maybe 4 English men in it.

All on harry to hold em at the back and harry up top to score.

I actually have the same feeling, but I had a similar feeling in 1966, didn't think we stood a chance against West Germany, but look what happened. We have to get past Croatia first though.

Three or four? I think Kane''s better than Giroud and that's about the only Englishman I can think who'd displace a frog, pains me to say it but, they look better all over the pitch. As John says though, very few thought that we'd beat W. Germany in '66
