Squads improved and has done every year since the owner made his proclamation of commitment when McClaren came in. Even though that dick head spunked 77m and took us down, the owner has continued to support us year in year out doing everything he can. Since McClaren left we’ve made progress every year and the squad has got more and more to the managers liking. Like all managers he’d like it quicker and he has quickly discovered the limitations of a second tier club in the transfer market. However the results suggested the strengthening has happened and it’s worked. I know it’s easier to just piss and moan but you really should try supporting your club and it’s endeavours.

The squads improved? Where? Don’t tell me because Ki has joined as we all know Merino is going.

Anyway, I always wait until the window has closed before deciding on how good or bad a window has been. So I’ll actually decide then. Just like playing ying to your yang.

If we are sticking to the facts let’s do that eh. Merino is still currently an NUFC player. We’ve strengthened.

When the window closes we will start the season with a stronger squad than what we started last season with. Progress. Well at least in the eyes of the manager.

We know Ashley is looking to get out eventually, and with Rafa's contract running out after this year, we can guarantee that Mike isn't going to invest a single penny of his own personal mega-fortune.
No, we will be also-rans in the Premier League race for the foreseeable future, but that's not a given for staying up, once Rafa Benitez has gone.

If Newcastle United can finish anywhere near the top ten this season, then it's success. On our level.

I can’t see Ashley spending a **** load until the manager signs. We operate where the manager picks the players in transfers. Therefore why would you give a guy loads of money for players when he is not committed to the club? Particularly one like Rafa who has very specific types when it comes to players. All it would result in is a very expensive overhaul when he jumps ship. Like the players, a manager is not bigger than the club. He should either sign up or **** off.

As of right now the squad is worse than the one which ended last season. Kenedy has not officially signed so we're a winger down. Slimani out, Ki in in effect weakens us up front.

The only expensive overhaul came about when McLown ****ed up so badly he took us down. Inevitable overhaul when you get relegated, else the likes of Townsend would never have left.

To suggest Mike would be beholden to any manager and their demands for players is as mad as some of your posts supporting the fat ****er.

So you don’t think there would be an expensive overhaul if Rafa left? Look around my friend. Take West Ham at present. They are actively trying to flog half a squad while signing replacements. It rarely works out favourable in terms of finance.

Bottom line is Rafa is not committed fully to the club at present. He needs to sign and stop with the silly games. Mike has already proven to him in the time he’s been here he will be backed with what we have. The accounts back this up. There is no evidence to the contrary. Only Rafas whining and devious manipulation of the press (a common theme throughout his managerial career).

I’ve had enough of his ****e and don’t like the disrespect he is showing our club and it’s fans. On one hand he is saying he can see himself here for 5-10 years more. On the other he is running down his contract under the misleading auspice that Ashley has to prove his commitment. With all due respect Ashley has been here 10yrs and looked after the club and shown his commitment to the tune of over 100m.

I just hate our fans having the wool pulled over their eyes. Let’s be honest ours aren’t the brightest and it hasn’t taken much over the years. Ashley himself was guilty of trying it when Keegan was manager. He didn’t get away with it. Rafa is though as there is some weird hero worship and he now thinks he’s more important than the club clearly. He is hurting us and transfer business currently. While that contract remains unsigned it’s undermining the clubs efforts. He’s turning into a bit of a **** if truth be told.

Now <thinks out loud> why would a manager not sign a contract?

You mean the money he had to pay after he bought the Club because he failed to carry out due diligence. That's true commitment. Paying money he had to to stop his investment going down the swanny.

Speaking with false authority again. You don't know the reason the contract hasn't been signed do you?

Nope no one does. But I know the facts about the finances and him giving Rafa all he can. So unless Rafa is asking him to use his own money I don’t know what the problem is. Face it Rafa is a fat weasel.

I'm in the middle. Mike could do more, which would encourage the signature. That said, I wish Rafa would just sign the contract. He must be aware that the more success he generates, the more the club can aspire to spend. He'll also never have this kind of control again. Even at clubs with bigger budgets - and I think West Ham are going to implode again, they have much larger problems they're trying to ignore - he might be faced with a sporting director or head of recruitment. He has an insanely good thing going here, I do find it slightly odd he won't just sign.

It also diminishes his bargaining power, because again I understand why Mike doesn't want a McRepeat. Just sign it, with release clause, move on, get players.

As usual, the idiots in the middle like you and I are the ones who'll bear the brunt when we either don't invest enough, or hire a new low-rent manager next Summer!

    @Free-Dor @Ja sam Groot

Not sure I log on anymore to find out news or give input really, I just want to see the latest installment of your arguing - sorry debating.

Can we put you two in the same room and just film it? Preferably chained to opposite walls with a knife on a table in the middle? See who chews through the chains first :emoticon-0136-giggl:emoticon-0140-rofl:

We all know you two are really best buds <hug><double><smooch>
