Yes, they "REFUSED" to pass to him apparently. Not because france marked Lukaku out of the game, or because they marshalled their defence well, it was a refusal on their part to pass to him
Ya wind up merchant ye! You are right though, Stan Da fan is honest, he never hides his spastication and his complete and utter biases.
You make some fair points - but personally i did think he had a poor game. Yes France defended excellently, but Lukaku seemed to shrink as the game went on rather than trying harder and harder to impose himself - and it's hard not to notice that it's becoming a consistent trait when he faces better teams and better defenders. Fellaini missed a golden opportunity for Belgium and should have scored with that header in the second half (or at least hit the target) - but he got himself into that position and was therefore able to be found by a team mate. Giroud did it several times for the French but without being able to finish. Lukaku's performance seemed to be epitomised by the chance towards the end - de Bruyne put in an absolute peach of a cross that cleared Umtiti's head as if designed by slide rule - Lukaku rather than anticipating / gambling seemed to have accepted that Umtiti would head it clear yet again and in the end reacted too slowly to a ball that I'm convinced he could have met ... and buried ... that's the difference between the very best and the merely good IMHO
He would certainly make the PL board more exciting. Him and Matth arguing would be awesome. please log in to view this image
Tbf to big Rom he did score the consolation goal for Everton when we beat them 3-1 a few seasons back
... my computer had actually crashed - didn't think it would even post ... which would have been a shame for my avid readers, such as yourself and Quentin of the ZZ Muffin Tops
This last bit bang on, said it last night. An absolute top striker would position himself assuming the defender would miss and so be in a position to head home. Lukaku instead assumed the defender would clear it and so couldn't react quickly enough when it came his way. The service to him was poor all evening, definitely not his fault, but you got to take the opportunities when they do arrive and that was the one. And I'm a United fan.
This It was a world cup semi final, you have to take your chances at this level and Lukaku didn't. And if it's not happening for you, then you have to dig yourself out and make it happen. It's not about having a pop at a rival player, it's just pointing out the difference between a good player and a world class player.
