    I don't really tagree.

    Why?

If they'd not scored late v Tunisia what would have happened... ifs, buts, maybes I know but the articles were probably written already to save the players and then kane scored and it all turns about.

It must be said again... Tunisia, panama. Assured 6 points. Last 16 opponents were going to be colombia or poland pre tournament as a guess. The QF were ALWAYS on. I even rpedicted QF.

The difference between 2006 wold cup and today is a pen hsoot out went our way.

Then sweden.... not eaxctly tough opponents. They were average too.

now we have croatia who looked tasty in groups but have faded since.

I agree they are in a no lose scenario here but in the end i don't think we can write off better talneted groups who only made QF cos the kick of the ball wnet our way in last 16 shoot out.

I actually expect england to have a good chance of getting through tonight having seen croatia defend set piece.

I do not at all agree with some who seem to think england will have more of the ball. I would not be shocked to see a 60/40 split in favour of croatia tonight. (maybe extreme)

Lets not kid ourselves and think that a great draw and an open route means england have transformed into world beaters. Theres a decent chance tonight but nothing assured and then if we get through its a massive massive match in the final against a team that are probably twice the team england are.

As i said before SFs started. one massive effort at do or die in final is required. Last night we saw a french side than were in control, really disciplined and got the one goal to win it. Belgium tried everything but that french midfield bossed

A big problem for Belgium was that De Bruyne had a ****ing mare. That certainly didn't help.

Frogs in the final, then. If we get through, the final will be hard to take for me. Anything other than victory will be totally unacceptable <grr>

Karius is only postponing his evil days, he has no right to Liverpool's number 1 keeper. I would think Klopp is trying to let him down gently.

The route to the QF isn't something that England had a hand in.

What they have had a hand in is the attitude and desire to win(Belgium aside)

Tough ask to beat Croatia and then France, but why not? Apart for 15 minutes against Columbia we have never really been under pressure.

we did cos we lost to belgium.

we tried not to it seems but we did.

i predicted 2nd in group and the route to Qf and it happened. what was not predicted was germany being so poor and opening up our seciton of draw.

every team had desire to win.

2006 team had desire to win. sometimes **** happens sometimes the ball hits the cross bar and you progress.

our pens were all good bar hendersons. pickford saved one. they had an even smaller keeper in goal etc etc.

every side tried their damnest i nthis world up. there were tears everywhere.... all but one have to lose some where.

all i am saying is lets not make out these are world beaters or special. they are delivering on the big stage but all games thus far would be routing qualifier win.

I think croatia can be beaten. I'd give a 50/50 chance maybe even 60/40 right now based on fitness.

france is a whole other level and becomes a real world cup final stages quality game. it would be epic just to be in it

No because nobody had any shots, just fancy running up and down a pitch.

Ffs that pic takes me back, the blocks of flats long gone and the indoor training pitch is now in the corner where the empty goal is.
Soon it'll be gone forever when the first team move to Kirkby.:(

    Lovren on England
Dejan Lovren reckons ‘nobody is tired’ in the Croatia camp after reaching the World Cup semi-final.

The Liverpool defender has impressed during the tournament in Russia and will line up against club counterpart Jordan Henderson - and possibly even Trent Alexander-Arnold - tonight.

“I can only imagine the atmosphere in England, but Croatian people also expect lots from this game,” he said.

“It will be tough, but interesting, for both sides. I’ve met many England internationals in Premiership matches, and we are very aware of their qualities, I can only praise them further.

“We fully respect Kane, but he is not the only threat. Croatia, on the other hand, does not want to stop here, we want to achieve more. The manager believes in us - he did so when few others did - and we do the best we can.

“The Croatian people never had it easy, and we want to bring them some joy, including a medal. We’ve had a chance to recover from two tough, long matches. When the stakes are this high, nobody is tired. It’s once in a lifetime opportunity.”
