The last player we would have liked to have kept, but sold when he ‘complained’ , we got a world record fee for. If they’re determined to go, there’s little that can be done to stop them, Bale along with another who left still play for the biggest club in the world by far.
There’s nothing ‘incredible’ about it. If it’s a player that the club wants to keep Levy will fight to keep him. However, if they are determined to leave, to the point of going on effective strike - Modric, Bale, Berbatov - there’s little that can be done apart from screw the buyer for as much as you can get. Van Dijk > Liverpool
Yeah I'm not arguing, it's just funny how it's made out that Spurs/Levy are the only ones to do that.
Spurs are no different from any other club, as much as spurs fans like to try and make out that they are a special case. They sell when a player's head has been turned and their chairman does his best to get the best price possible. It's no different from anybody else. As much as they laud Levy as some kind of Messiah, he's sold all of their best players, sacked 12 managers and won practically **** all.
Managers, yes. It’s something he should never have put his fingers into. He’s made some disastrous appointments. Players. I’m not having any criticism of what he’s done for us. He’s always fought hard to keep whatever players the manager wished to keep, and those that couldn’t be persuaded to stay he’s gotten the very best price for. Our best players remain with us despite all the bollocks spouted on here.
Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale ... His history is selling your best players and he'll do it again. That's the reality mate.
Quite possibly so, but how does that detract from anything that either I or NSIS have said? The accusation is that Levy will sell Kane because he is Jewish and Jews love money. The very strong implication is that Levy's love of money means more to him that keeping our best players and building a team to match our World Class new stadium. Levy has made it absolutely clear that we will not sell any of our star players. So, Bobby... Do you side with the wums, who say that Levy will sell Kane because he loves the money? Or, do you side with NSIS and myself who decide to believe Levy when he says that we won't be selling any of our stars?
Our owners have been great on that front to be fair - before they arrived we generally had to sell off any real assets just to balance the books Neil Lennon > Celtic Heskey > Liverpool Lineker > Everton Alan Smith > Arsenal Gary McAllister > Leeds ... even a young lad called Matt Piper to Sunderland - he was the only bright spark in an extremely dire period for the club - (how our's and Sunderland's fortunes have turned around since then! ) The Thai owners have been great, obstinate and determined - Kante only got to go because of a release clause and Mahrez had to wait until it suited the club - two years after he started to kick off about a move - Drinkwater was a different situation - the club were not bothered about him leaving and £40m for him seems a bargain.
You’re just parroting your obvious agenda. Either that or you can’t read. They were all players who demanded to leave. Some to the point of basically going on strike. There was nothing more Levy could do but get the best price possible. Reality doesn’t touch on your set narrative.
So if Dembele (your best midfielder) leaves this summer, that will be because he wants to leave yea and not because levy wants to get some $$$ before he depreciates? As for selling, everyone sells their best players when they want to leave. I'm just not quite sure why Levy is worshipped when that happens to any club.
Yes, exactly. If he goes It will be because firstly Poch is happy to let him go, and because he’s looking for a league that is not so demanding on his ageing and now injury prone body. He’s 31 now. If his contract expires in one year anyway, and he wants to leave, what would any sensible chairman do?
Okay, So you only sell your players once another club comes in for them, they want to leave and a fee is agreed for them. Just like every other club
Agreed like every other club, and when they force the issue. However, the major players we have now show no signs of wishing to leave. Anyway, for a Gooner wasn’t spouting bollocks about another club selling its best players is pretty funny.
It's 'spouting bollocks' yet you have consistently sold your best players Also Alderwiereld, Rose, Walker, Dembele have either shown signs of wanting to leave or have left, So that puts your argument straight to bed. Interesting that you mention Arsenal, because like us, you now need to pay for a new stadium that reports say will touch almost £1bn to build. So you have to find a way to pay for that, and the increased wages that your players will expect. Levy might drive a hard deal but he ain't a ****ing magician. Add to this that you still haven't won anything of note for decades and you still think Spurs have some 'special' formula for keeping their best players at the club ?
And how many have left?? That’s your argument put straight to bed! And if anybdo leave it will be because Pochettino has sanctioned it. You handled things appallingly, allowing players like RVP to run down their contracts and then bugger off to a rival where he helped them to win yet another title,
I don't dispute that we handled contracts atrociously, the RVP situation was an abomination and was Wenger's worst moment at Arsenal. As for Spurs, your players will come and go just like any other club. You like to put a gloss on why they leave, but it's just semantics. If the right offer comes in, they will go. Just like any other club
