Modern game mate, £10m upfront really isn't that much for a young English keeper. City apparently were more keen on a loan or a buy back clause too which suggests there's something about him. No idea if they got their buy back clause or not. We can't all make free signings from Hertha Berlin mate. Edit: It's not even Hertha Berlin but Union Berlin
It wasn’t even Hertha Berlin. It was Union Berlin. He’s played one season and he didn’t even look any good. He might turn out to be Lev Yashin but ****ing hell- £10m+. It sounds a lot to me.
It's all ludicrous mate, Villa were talking about £30m+ for ****ing Grealish mate before they were in trouble. Nothing surprises me anymore, be interesting to see what the buy back clause is set at if they indeed did manage to get one.
So because you disagree with one post you automatically think the next one is wrong? Do you watch what players do as a whole or just look for the flash bits.
No, I happen to think both are wrong. I do think Pogba was above his usual level and put in far more of a shift defensively than I’ve ever seen for United. Just wouldn’t personally call it an “excellent” performance.
Strange that, because Jose gets slated for holding him back and making him defend Matth was right but for the wrong reasons, Pogba had a very good game all round, excellent some may say. Lukaku was let down by Hazard and de Bruyne, Hazard because he was "showcasing" his talents and in no mood to pass to anyone, de Bruyne because he had (for him) a really poor night. de Bruyne is the creative force of that team and usually finds the strikers very well as well as putting in some great shots himself, tonight things just didn't work for him. **** happens sometimes and in a big game it sucks.
He hangs around near the defence a lot. I’m not sure it could be called defending too often. Hazard was good again but well marked. Lukaku was so, so static all the time. I’d argue it was him letting down the others. That cross from De Bruyne at the end would have been the pass of the tournament if Lukaku had been awake.
Pogba was world class today. Even Michael Owen said so and he doesn't starve horses, he actually rides them! Pogba is like a thin John Boyega if you will - smart, dashing and he can rule the galaxy. Today for Pogba, the force certainly awakened!
Or if it had been a yard shorter so Lukaku could reach it. Like I said, most games de Bruyne would get that spot on tonight was just not going for him. Hazard was good for himself, plenty of clips to put on youtube of him taking on several players, not so many that show him doing anything with the ball at the end of it. You do realise that Lukaku had given up on anyone playing a through ball to him and spent most of the second half around the box hoping one of the wide men could put a decent cross in.
I love Southgates interviews, he comes over as a very intelligent thoughtful man with a good balance of pride and humility.
