With only about 4 weeks left of the transfer season how many CASH signings will Rafa be allowed to make. If it's up to Ashley, I expect none as he will constantly go for loan deals. All this talk of £17m for Rondon is pie in the sky as he may be good in the air, as Mitro is, but scores even less. Forget him
Perhaps best if you direct this advice to Rafa! Still think will have 2 or 3 signings depending on Sels, Colback, Saivet etc.
Yeah massively depends on the outgoings - I think this is why we didn't sign anyone in the winter window last year with Colback, Sels, Mitro, Saviet etc only leaving on loan. If we can get rid of those lot for £30-40m I think we'll get 2/3 players in for a fee if not probably a few more free and loan signings.
More talk of a loan offer submitted - and rejected - for Maia. At least the Spain talk is gone, but I imagine there's still some issue with Rafa not committing.
Apparently they will only consider a straight sale of the player according to French media (from what I've read online - on English rehash sites). Probably suits us better to be honest and we all know the club love a bargain from France so think this one may be a goer.
We have to shift some players but I expect at least two or three cash signings. The window is going fairly well despite the nutter complainants.
The only reason we would have cash to spend is if Ashley is perhaps paying back the £33m short term loan or he has changed strategy again and has gone back to trying to stockpile cash to pay off loans/subsidise the sale of the club, but I don't think he'd want to jeopardise our Premier League position so I think Rafa will get a fair wedge to spend in the end. Plus, it doesn't hurt us having an image of not having much of a pot to piss in in terms of our negotiating position with other clubs.
I think we're all getting a bit nervous due to 1) their track record, and 2) our current pool of "strikers".
It is standard NUFC supporter behaviour in a transfer window. It’s akways an overblown drama. I’m realky happy with the start we’ve made. We are already better than last season at this stage.
Utter Bollocks. I've had a look at the table and we have exactly the same number of points on the board. In fact with Swansea, Stoke and West Brom going down but Fulham, Cardiff and Wolves coming up we're actually going to start two places lower down than last year. It's a fix.
It makes sense to make jokes when the uncomfortable truth of The NUFC board strengthening the squad is the dawning realisation.
Keep me right but where exactly have we strengthened the team that finished last season. By the way I’m not interested in the squad last summer I’m interested in the squad that ended last season as our starting point to strengthen or are we just ignoring January transfer window deals?
Ah you do didn’t know loans go back at the end of season? Sorry I thought you knew something about football, my bad. I know it doesn’t fit with the anti Ashley and anti Newcastle agenda, but you were always coming round to the good side at some point
I'm with FreeDor on this one as I agree we have strengthened although its still early days. According to Chronicle: Incomings Dubravka 4mill Ki-Sung Yeung Free Outgoings Haidara Released Gilliead Released Just releasing Haidara has to count as a significant strengthening of squad. Would happily take Kenedy on loan with an option to buy at an agreed fee in place of Merino Not happy seeing Ritchie may be going but will pass judgement when I see who his replacement will be Think we will need to look at squad strengthening as well. We were lucky with injuries last year. Another bad year would cause serious problems as we dont have much squad depth.
Loans technically go back after the season has ended. I thought you knew that. Obviously my bad on that one. You can dance, you can wiggle but we should be looking to improve the squad of players that were available for the last game of last season not some squad at some remote moment of time that suits a Fre-dor point of view. The squad we had 5 years past Thursday week isn’t relevant unfortunately otherwise you may have had a decent point.
