A fine performance by Belgium, spoiled by the thought of Roland celebrating it.
    Come on France.

We need France & Belgium to tear pieces out of each other in the semi final.

Fantastic to see the Russians go out.
    Awful country.
Their manager’s sole tactic seemed to be to scream at the crowd.

So despite the fact we are not very good, we make the semi finals! Only beat Sweden? True enough, and maybe it would have been more glorious to beat Germany, Spain, Italy or Holland, but take a look, they all either got knocked out or watched the finals from the sofá!!! Sweden got there, and we beat them.

No guarantees against Croatia, we all remember Italia '90. But we're there. I'll be dreaming until wednesday morning, which is when it kicks off wherever I am then.

    C'mon En-ger-land.

I was listening to the media people going on about England's performance and have to admit it made me smile. Not the performance now but every performance in every tournament they have ever taken part in. I have to ask the question, what has a result against anybody 20, 30, 40 years ago got to do with 2018 and now? History is exactly that. The chances of England against Croatia are what they are on the day they play them currently. We have been reasonable without setting any fires but then again so have Croatia. France the same and mostly also the super stars of Belgium. Nobody in this tournament has set the world alight. We have as much chance if we continue to perform as we have as anyone else. I refuse to get carried away and that is the history part for me. I'm not about to say we will go any further and the next game will be easy or anything that stupid. But, we shouldn't fear anyone either and I'm not nervous for this squad. I thought yesterday that the result was never in doubt once we scored. It seemed comfortable which in itself is a strange feeling where England are concerned. I'm confident enough that we get to the final without being cocky about it.

Lovely tribute to Barry Davies on TV this afternoon. He is retiring from the BBC after Wimbledon aged 85.

What is so noticeable about his career is the way the BBC has gone from employing qualified journalists as broadcasters - wordsmiths who could elocute as Barry Davies could ...to monosyllabic morons who used to play the game ....Rio Ferdinand and Ian Wright being two topical examples.

The one I would shoot is Glen Hoddle. He royally gets right up my nose. It is true though that they don't make em like they used to. If you are of a certain age though that's probably true about virtually everything.
