Agree about the vodka. Cheaper the better just to get smashed, rancid stuff.

I will say I bought a bottle of that ciroc flavoured vodka when I was last in Tenerife. Lovely that was and kept it's strength at 40%.

Cheap vodka is the worst imo.

    I don't mind a cheap asda/Tesco dark rum

I'm not a huge fan of dark rum, gives me a horrendous hangover compared to spiced.

Too strong, it's ok neat and decent in a mixer but there are a lot of better rums out there.

That's good, quite like Rumbullion and curious to try the 57% one.

    Probably after Summer though <yikes>

57% is too strong the alcohol is going to overpower the other flavours.

    If you want strong then...

    At 75.5% it'll wreck you.

    Some reviews...

I tried a shot neat. Don't try this neat. You will be filled with instant regret.

    Evil
I’ve been in daily permanant pain since drinking a small bottle of this four years ago
Got so wrecked I fell and damaged my neck vertebrae

Helped me forget my wife ( what was her name)

A splash makes just about any tropical cocktail taste more authentic.
Still, be careful. This is not to be trifled with.

Very helpful for a body rub to reduce fever. Popular usage in Jamaica.

Just a few shots will put you on your butt. I don't remember anything.

    @Skylarker will have been there?

Wrays just a means to an end, a very quick means to a very quick end

Appleton rum is nice, Bacardi oakheart is ok if a little too sweet, Morgan spiced is my go to rum usually.
When out I’ll start with 2 tequilas and a larger, then a few more lagers till I’m full then move to the rum.

Coke. To expand on that the coke will bring out the vanilla flavours in the rum, lots of ice and a squeeze of lime and you have a really nice drink.

Ginger Beer is also nice but get the good stuff.
