Not good news about Vrancic though. Missing all of pre-season, he'll be playing catchup well into the season. Bah!
Thankfully midfield is one area we are well stocked with players, so not as big as miss as other areas.
I wouldn't be too disappointed - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...er-rumours-pinto-forutna-dusseldorf-1-5597180
Agreed, I like Pinto but he was never a great defender. Decent going forward, great PR but if we can get rid of his wages given the ample cover we now have, I think it would be a good deal even for a negligable fee. Bah!
In Pink'un polls 3/4 of supporters want him to stay. He's in the last 12 months of his contract though, so it's either a new contract or allow him to move on for some fee and a saving in wages. Meanwhile, highlights of the pre-season run out against Kings Lynn are here. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/lynn-v-norwich-highlights-1-5596656 Some good glimpses of Pukki, Hernandez and Srbeny up front and Leitner and Trybull look good in midfield. Klose looks good going forward but was caught napping for their goal. Our first goal by Aransibia was classy and good cross by Wildschut to give Idah a tap in for our second.
That's a shame, usually like going to the home friendly games because I can't afford to go to many games.
I loved Pinto, but he got dropped for a Midfielder who never really played there. Another fan favourite who just got faded out. I don't really have any love for any Norwich player anymore. A chance for new club legends to be made, but this season, we start with none. Which is a bit sad. Wolves wanted Pinto when they were spending all that money. As was Nelson, who was also wanted by Premiership clubs before Farke. Now, we struggle to get them off the books. It's a shame.
I seem to recall Reading were heavily linked with a big money move last Jan? Like £7-8m? Feel free to phone and enquire again, Reading...
If you have a player like that, with bids and interest like that. To decide to drop them all the time, and try to forget they were in the squad I'm guessing Nelson will now leave on a free.
Changing topic slightly - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/thompson-injury-update-1-5598605. I would certainly expect him to feature in the first team soon!!! Edit - I'm still not convinced that this will happen and feel this is just lazy journalism though Chris Goreham has retweeted it -
If I remember correctly, Pinto didn't get dropped, he injured himself getting out of his car then found it difficult to fight his way back.
When I first saw your clear out happening it looked a worrying time. You've recruited wisely though, balancing the books and putting a decent looking squad together. Getting players in before the start of pre-season is important too. Better placed than many. Hoping Murphy turns out to be good business for both of us.
Just seen that Leeds might be looking at a deal for Assombalonga, potentially a loan. If we have the money for a loan of Rhodes surely we would be better to put towards getting this guy, even on loan! I’d love him here
Sounds like Riyad Mahrez to Man City is firming up. If only Leicester had a decent replacement for him...
Rhodes apparently passed a medical last night and a loan fee was agreed. I hope he does well and I will support him but I'm not thrilled with the Scotsman's arrival.
I'm not usually a fan of the loan system but here I think it suits us perfectly. I'd be really nervous if we were signing him up on a 3 yr deal with his wages. Good chance for both sides to test the waters and I'd imagine the deal is very different to what the early media reports suggested, (Geez at least it better be!). Fingers X'd he's a good fit for DF's plans and bags us a hat full of goals.
