Saw it a few years back - quality. Never thought I'd say/write this this tournament, but: we have a better chance of winning the cup now than the 1990 opportunity. On the same note, did the Beeb do any other WC themed docs alomg the quality of the 1978 Scotland one? Saw bits of the Iran/US one, but out else of note?
Just rewatched it this evening, had a tear in the eye, not gonna lie. A fantastic doc. Apart from those two I can't see any others that are solely WC-centric, though there is that doc on England managers and the one on Barry Davies too, both of which were pretty good.
Actually, saw the England managers' one - was good. Forgot to tape the Barry Davies' one - will watch on iplayer at some point.
Watching second series of Glow. Nostalgic, chicks in leotards, drugs, sex, genuine laugh out load moments and very crude. Good show.
Sounds totally inappropriate in this #metoo age. Isn't there s nice, clean series featuring empowered women showing how inadequate men are you could be watching?
Netflix, are we serious here when you can pick up so many DVD's to build your own library for a few quid and then watch those DVD's without subscription simply by visiting the many charity shops that abound, and each pound you hand over does some good towards those less fortunate, and I don't mean the bigwigs who run these things, before you get all cynical.
The Wire https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0306414/?ref_=nv_sr_1 Best series I've probably seen. Kinda feel like rewatching it.....again Bron/The Bridge https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/ Is quality as well. Not sure if it's as enjoyable when you don't understand the languages tho, but for sure worth a watch.
The Bridge is top notch and in subtitles. I tend to watch more subtitles lately Norkov Follow the Money Bellow the Surface Trapped Occupied The Rebecca Martinson mystery.
Nice one Out of curiosity Do you hear any difference between Swedish & Danish when spoken in the show?
It's quite a big difference actually, very unlikely that they''d never have any problems understanding each other. Danish is quite harsh in comparsion, sounds like they're a bit drunk/got something stuck in the throat http://cphpost.dk/life-in-denmark/the-danish-languages-irritable-vowel-syndrome.html " A 15-month-old Croatian child understands approximately 150 words, while a Danish child of the same age understands just 84 on average. It’s not because Danish kids are dumb, or because Croatian kids are geniuses. It’s because Danish has too many vowel sounds, according to Dorthe Bleses, a linguist at the Center for Child Language at the University of Southern Denmark."
