I'm more than happy to leave the team selection to the manager.

Not saying I know what I'm talking about. My football qualifications are limited to having a tv licence and a keyboard, same as most people on here. I haven't heard anyone with better qualifications criticise Sterling's performance or inclusion in the team.

Who strangely enough seems to know what he's doing. Keyboard warriors for you, by the time the signal gets from the brain to the fingers, it gets all jumbled up.

Only a headcase will change the team at this point, especially with no apparent need. Luckily Southgate is anything but.

And the same argument could be used in relation to Fat Sam.

I’ve watched football at all levels for over 55 years. I played football until late 20’s but not at any great level. Football skill is all relative to level and Sterling doesn’t have it at the very top level.

I fully appreciate that you can’t have a team of Messi’s and ultimately it’s a team game made up of different parts but there are better players than Sterling who can play and make England better still. Any forward/attacker who hasn’t scored in 30 months for his team has to be bringing something extra special to the team. Being awkward and a nuisance at this level is simply not enough whether he’s the life and soul of the party or not.

    Just a bit.
Best I've seen at an England or Nufc game. Beni red and white all day and night. Although the local plod got a bit heavy handed at one point. Roll on the SF.

    Brilliant <laugh>

I've been in the main square in the new town before, it gets a bit loud to say the least.

Well if you can't get your words in the right order, how are you supposed to pick the right team? <whistle>

    Gary Neville speaking the truth:

"The actual treatment at half-time of [Sterling] across social media was absolutely disgusting, and isn't representative of the performance he put in. To run in-behind Granqvist all that time, he kept getting in and getting in. OK, we didn't have the cherry on the cake, the goal, where all of a sudden you're a hero, but it was a brilliant performance."

My mum could run in behind Granqvist. He makes Dzyuba look nimble.

Sterling missed not one but two sitters. As usual.
It would just be such a shame to get this far only for the perseverance with Sterling to fck it all up, especially when many people know how limited he is.

Yeah, Sweden are renowned for having a shaky defense.

Sterling missed a few chances. He also sowed panic amongst the usually meticulously organised Swedish backline. Undoubtedly helped in getting us the result, even if indirectly through his energy, intelligent movement and great workrate. So yes, a good performance sadly held back from being a brilliant one by those misses but thoroughly undeserving of all the nonsense hate being cast his way.

Loftus-Cheek scores goals? Aye, 4 in his entire career.

I have coached at Junior Level and have a Masters Degree in Organic Geochemistry. I would have made Sterling stand in a corner facing the wall until he learnt to stop running like a girl. Also he knows nothing about using biomarkers as indicators of palaeoenvironments. He has to go.

I must’ve missed something due to my lack of qualifications, but what part did Sterling play in the England goals again?

You're right - you've definitely missed something if you think attacking players can only help a team in getting a positive result if they have a direct assist or goal.

So Sterling's essential because he was on the pitch when England beat a poor Sweden team? Right-o. Are you seriously suggesting that, had Rashford, Vardy or RLC been on the pitch instead, we would NOT have beaten Sweden?
