Now I remember why I don't normally comment on players and their performance, even going so far as avoiding the man of the match threads. It also serves me right for reading stuff on a forum (this one) about how badly Rooney has performed (scored goals) at world cups in the past. I'll give up now.
I remember thinking he looked great at PNE. But, it's be said a lot, but there's so many of that group creating their own sub-plots as part of the all round narrative. Maybe Das Bild/ Der Spiegel et al will be right about this young group. If we do pull it off, will we be the only country to be reigning world champions in every age group?
A very good point. The Germans know the balance may be swinging our way. Maybe its our time. Still think this is maybe 2 years too early and yet??
I remember when Picko played the game of his life for SAFC when they beat us 0-2 in 2017, and all but relegated us that day. Then lo and behold next week against relegation rivals Swansea at the Stadium of Pink Seats he made a calamitous error which helped give the visitors the points. Disappointing, for sure.
Throughout my time, through my lens, there's always been a series of GK we seemingly struggle against
Older subscribers may recall Roy Burton. Back to England, or the 3 Lions as some lazy journalists know them, many experts reckoned we lacked a De Bruyne or an Ericsen, someone who could unlock a defence with a slide rule disguised pass....and all we have is honest up and down guileless Hendo. Well take a look at us now......the set piece kings, no midfield maestro needed ....and the departure lounge at Moscow Airport is full of rueful centrocampista specialists
I wonder if the Scottish bint stood atop of that ambulance will face criminal charges?! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
