Does it not go back to 1996 when England were hosting a major tournament for the first time since 1966. I don't think the original implication was that a trophy was coming 'home'. But the song caught on and may now have other meanings.

Well there we have it, England in the semis vs Croatia. Would have loved it to be Russia just to make PM's question time more interesting. From what I saw today, and as the Croatians were completely spent after extra time, I can only see England winning on Wednesday. If they don't then they'll deserve all the **** that will fly their way. Both games were crap weren't they? all the excitement came from the occasion not the football. Croatia played like a team from D1 but lucky for them Russia played like a team from D2, the result was a lottery in the end as in truth neither team deserved to win imo. England were the best of a poor bunch today doing enough to win, not because they played great but because Sweden stank the place out, they were useless. If this is the best football team Sweden produce then they should stick to what they do best, porn films, and forget about football entirely. I thought the Swedish keeper was entertaining though as he made me laugh out loud a couple of times. Firstly when Maguires scored Englands first, the keeper it seems invented a new type of dive, the short arm raptor, when he failed to save Maguires header by not using his arms to save the ball. I thought that was funny but then he made me spit out my lager with his effort to save Allis header for the second goal. Not content with his short arm raptor dive he went and invented another new dive, the 'dive backward under the ball' dive. All he had to do to save Allis effort was to stand there and put his hands above his head, maybe jump up if he felt the need but not dive backwards and let the ball go over his hands. Someone have a look and tell me if I'm being harsh because I missed the replays coz I couldn't see through the the tears in my eyes. Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium and Urahuay must all be spewing when they see the crap on 'the other' side of the draw, especially the teams that played today. Imo, final will be Belgium (last decent team standing) Vs England (luckiest team at the tournament) with Belgium winning; but in a one off game...........you never know.
^^^ A decent assessment. England had a routine win over a very average Sweden team. Whoever wins out of France and Belgium will be firm favourites to go on and win it. And if, by any chance, it becomes Belgium v. England in the final it would be an all-Spurs occasion. The only missing players would be Lloris, Eriksen and Ben Davies.
Exactly, so why are people saying its coming home now. it isn't even the original world cup which is in its rightful place Brazil. it makes no sense at all.
With De Bruyne, Hazard and Lukaku It's Belgium for me . I hope Kompany stays fit and Roberto adds another tick to his managerial career.

In my WELSH opinion CBD, Sweden were very poor, not taking anything away from England, they can only play what's in front of them, but Sweden offered no real resistance, Sterling coulda/shouda got a brace but to show how poor Sweden really were, Deli Alli scored? with his head?? say no more. Is why I think Sweden should stick to making Porn films, CBD, coz right now, they're **** at football England v Croatia, what you think CBD? if they turn them over then my WELSH opinion is it'll be 'Belgium Vs England 2' the sequel, in the final. I can see Belgium coming out worthy winners of that one and taking the World cup having gone unbeaten throughout the whole tournament, rising from the dead against Japan, having beaten the Samba Boys, won over France and Croatia/England in the the final. If they do that then they'll truly be the best team n the entire World but, England could steal the show but they got a lot of work ahead of them to do it. The pressure's cranked to the max and something will blow next week. It all kicks off with what in my WELSH opinion should be the final Belgium Vs France, what a game that's going to be.
