I was one calling for Rashford to come in for Sterling after Panama but he's really stepped it up for the ko matches imo. Certainly been one of our best players in an attacking sense in these two matches for me. Running the channels stretching teams, being more direct than others and committing defenders creating space. Some of his hold up play has been surprisingly good too. He's a big part of how we want to play under Southgate and I admire Gareth's loyalty to him which is paying off now. Winner in the final
Yeah, there was still trouble at the time of France 98. But by that point it was mostly because everyone else came looking for England fans; same to some extent in Belgium and Holland for the Euros (the tournament you mentioned). One of my abiding memories of the 90's is going to raves in South London, and being hugged by pilled up geezers with broken noses and tattoos.
Youre always going to get a few idiots. Millions of people go out to get pissed up in 30 degrees heat in emotional circumstances and some act like ****s... shocked. In other news, it's coming home
All that cheap E had a lot to answer for. Though my drug of choice, alcohol is a real bugger in (over)emotional circumstances. As to the Sterling debate. My main issue with him is he only seems to re-gain his scoring touch when playing Saints, or do we give him more time than other teams? He also, in the absence of a class playmaker, causes opposition defences anxiety though flatters to deceive. The bottom line is Southgate has built a team, with good spirit, so will stick with him I guess.
Nice to have an opinion expressed on here that is not about how stupid the poster of the previous opinion was. Thank you. I agree with most of what you say, tbh, but I think Sterling is so obsessed with getting a goal he is blinkered in the danger areas. If he costs us in the semi, I will be back on here pointing this out! But I wouldn't change a winning team either.
Guile? Hahaha Come on. He plays with pace and has good feet but there is no guile. Guile would suggest he actually did something with the ball! I can show you five instances in the game where one ounce of guile would have created some end product. I totally agree he is fast and can kill the ball dead, but the problem is in his head with what to do with it...
Can't really stitch on a night shift unfortunately. Got a mate who lives near where I work so will probably watch it there and then if it does I can run to work quickly at ft. After I finish my nights on Saturday morning I'm off for a week though...
Kane has scored a goal on every day of the week for England bar a Wednesday. Hat trick against Crotia then.
