The opinion of a pundit who failed to win a single trophy, even the ****ing Scottish league cup, as manager of Celtic for two years can safely be ignored. Who did Liam think would win Brazil v Belgium? Spain v Russia? Germany v Mexico?

It's amazing to get to a semi final but I think people are getting a bit carried away. If we play like that against someone like France we'll be decimated. We were quite professional and did essentially what was needed against Sweden. Some people saying we were fantastic today? No way. Some elements were poor: How many missed passes? How many times were we dispossessed? How many times did we start to stretch Sweden but then make a bad choice or turn back? How many times did we hesitate to take a chance and put a ball through? Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic to see us where we are but there are some serious improvements to be made before we best someone like Croatia, Belgium or France.
Because we're not as stupid as the media would have you believe Joking aside I honestly think they were too worried to go given history with the fans and Geopolitics

We were pretty much strongly advised not to Kerry, for political and fear of violence reasons. Proved baseless, but understandable at the time (and it will be interesting if we play Russia next, and very interesting if we win). Many tried to get to the game today but bureaucracy made it impossible - you can only get a special football visa (normal ones take weeks to issue) if you have a ticket, and FIFA had none on offer, and without a visa you can’t just turn up and hope to get one on the street.
I dunno - not sure the travelling fans have ever had as huge expectations as the media. Off to Hyde Park for the Cure now - have a wonderful Saturday night one and all
Big difference in facing Russia or Croatia in the semi. If it's Russia then England are as good as in the final. Croatia though will be tough, they are much stronger than England in the central midfield positions. Southgate would need to come up with a new set up as Henderson alone would get overplayed by Modric and Rakitic. Englands chances are looking good, but would be excellent if Russia were to win tonight.

? If England are guaranteed a place in the final if they face Russia, how come Croatia aren’t guaranteed a semi final place because they are playing Russia? I notice Spain weren’t guaranteed a quarter final place because they played Russia. It’s Cup football, the joy of it is it’s unpredictability, as this competition is showing. Any team can play above themselves, get lucky, or have a shocker on the day. No second guessing, face up to whoever we get. Every team left in this competition, even Russia, is capable of winning it if the cards fall right, or freezing. It’s ****ing brilliant.
