I hope this may be helpful to any Southampton fans travelling to Derby by road for the pre-season game on 21st July, parking is available for away fans on 2 sites [100 and 400 yards from the stadium] at £6 per car/van [sorry no coaches]. Presuming that most will travel via the M1, leave at JCT25 and travel towards Derby on Brian Clough Way [A52], about 1 mile past the SPONDON/ASDA exit is the slip road to PRIDE PARK. *AT THE MOMENT THERE ARE ROADWORKS AND LANE RESTRICTIONS ON THIS SECTION OF THE A52. Take the Pride Park slip road but be aware that there is a pedestrian crossing immediately after the sharp bend, go to the 3rd island passing the North Stand of the stadium, at the 3rd island turn right into RIVERSIDE ROAD, about 60 yards on the right is the FRENGER SYSTEMS car park, this is handier for the elderly and less able supporters. For those who may wish to eat/drink before the game continue along Riverside Road to the last unit on the left hand side, the PRIDE VETERINARY CENTRE car park is handier for the away friendly hostelries [ask one of the attendants for details]. When leaving this car park I would, to avoid congestion, advise drivers to turn left and left again at the island, go left around the block heading back past the stadium and back to the first island you encountered on your inward journey, turn right here to access the A52/M1. I hope this helps, have a safe journey.
LATEST NEWS: The roadworks situation on the A52 near the Pride Park slip road continues [March 2019 completion ] the City Council haven't a clue what is happening and most of the major machinery has been removed from the site, far from me to suggest that payments to contractors have not been made . Take particular care in this section as there have been 5 multi-vehicle accidents in the last 3 weeks.
Alternatively, come off the M1 at the junction for the A50 towards Stoke and then take the A6 towards Derby. You will miss the roadworks on the A52 and also reduce the distance of the contraflow on the M1.
Using the A6, head towards Derby and at the Ringroad/Blue Peter island go straight across in the left hand lane, at the next island straight across into London Road, continue along London Road to the next island which is signed for PRIDE PARK>>>, go to the next island and past the front of the stadium and straight across the island into Riverside Road.
