I've not bought into any hype. It has been well documented for years the abuse black players get in the domestic league.
Just like it was here, and we all did it at that time. It took some black players with big balls to stand up to it that started the change in the UK. If they hadn't, it would have continued for years more.
My response isn't exactly well reasoned but we've seen it before. Players like Turner for instance needed that first season then developed. I'm always open to changing my mind, but I do fear that Dicko and Keane won't work out here. However, I do hold up hopes for the likes of Stewart, Kingsley, Toral and Henrik having massive seasons. There's a lot of ifs and buts, but I do feel there's potential in the squad. Question is, can it be tapped in the current situation and psyche?
I quite like Dicko, I think we looked a better team with him up top, I couldn’t understand why Campbell was preferred.
Echo that.... much more pace than Campbell and he always put a shift in IMO... Maybe this season will see him to better light..
We agree on something! I like Dicko - he’s a grafter. The calibre of players we’re signing means we need all players to be capable of putting a shift in.
We need a big unit up front for Dicko to work off. There was a suggestion of Donaldson a few weeks ago, appears he’s signed for Bolton. He’d have been a useful addition.
No doubting his goals and assists. It’s his appetite or total lack of his willingness to defend or even tackle in our team that I had issue with.
I don't think there were bigger critics of the Keane signing than me and glp but... The kid was at Man U till what 22?? Obviously huge potential. Had a Nightmare with injuries. He's now got the chance for a full preseason. He's been fit since Xmas, I think, we could potentially have a cracking player on our hands. Fingers crossed he stays injury free.
Signing for Bolton, who apparently aren't paying their players and he will still be on more than Enob would pay him.
Chazz. My neighbour is a Manchester lad and knows the Keane brothers well having watched them play since they were young. Although Michael has done very well it was always thought that Will would be a big star. Unfortunately injuries have knocked him back but if he gets a good preseason and is injury free he could be a real gem this year. His problem is that injuries usually knock off half a yard of pace and he will have to work really hard to get back to his best.
For exactly those reasons, I stuck up for him when we signed him, but from what we’ve seen so far, he’s looked like a player who’d be lucky to get on from the bench at North Cave.
We could signing young West Ham centre back Reece Burke - he played 26 games for Bolton on loan last year. Rumours on net confirm that West Ham are looking to let him leave.
