I think that he is a good player but as been said before, is someone that has lost confidence. I also think that from non league to Peterborough to us in a relatively short period of time may have been big steps but too quickly. If he went out on loan to a club in the 1st division and started to score again regularly, then maybe it could benefit all parties. It is strange that we have SLF a top striker in his day working behind the scenes that hasn't been able to assist the player in developing his goal scoring.
Maybe the guy is beyond help. Simply not good enough at this level in my view. Take what we can get for him I say.
Apparently put in a good shift in first pre-season game against Charlton as a winger and scored in 3-3 draw
I have seen him play many times on the Web but just one time live at LR against Bristol City early on in his time with us. He had numerous runs at Bristol City''s very average defenders and never once had the nous to get past his man, lost the ball every time and never came close to scoring. I thought then he's never going to be good enough, he still isn't, and really doubt he ever will be whoever is coaching him.
Do you remember the good old days when some of our departed posters used to say they'd give a manager or a player, usually Taarabt, 12 games before making a judgment about him and would then disregard what they'd said or disregard the evidence if it didn't suit their point of view! With CW we're well past the 12 games and two managers have given him a chance which he has blown. Third time lucky? Hope it works out for him if nobody wants him but if it was down to me I'd get rid.
It's another new dawn for Washington. Holloway wasn't happy with him when I went to meet him at one of those fan forum things. He felt that we spent too much money on him and that his signing for that amount of money represented all that was wrong with QPR. I thought that it put a lot of pressure on him. I don't think McClaren has that much leeway in terms of developing the squad so hopefully he'll get the best out of him. If not he's a busted flush and we'll have to take a hit on his transfer fee and his wages. Hopefully SM can get him going and scoring a few goals. I think there's a player in there but fear it may be a confidence issue. Come on Conor, relax and let your instinct takeover and become an R's legend! You've scored at international level, now do it in the championship. The goal and its parameters are the same regardless.
Appreciate his work rate and would never dislike him because of that, but don’t think he’ll honestly ever be the level we need. We might not be able to afford better but when you see Smyth and Oteh breaking through, I think I’d rather give those guys game time.
