The agreement will see the BETDAQ name emblazoned across the Black Cats’ home and away shirts and BETDAQ will utilise the partnership to offer Sunderland fans engaging online content, special offers and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to their football club. Founded in 2000, BETDAQ is part of the GVC Group, along with other major brands, including Ladbrokes and Gala Coral. Since its launch, BETDAQ has become one of the largest online betting exchange companies in the UK and the largest betting exchange technology provider in the world BETDAQ brings together sports traders from around the world and allows them to bet against one another, rather than using the odds set by a bookmaker. The punter-friendly betting exchange matches more than £75m-worth of bets per week and offers customers a simple, flat-rate 2% commission across all sports and markets. Sunderland AFC’s managing director, Tony Davison, said: “We are delighted to welcome BETDAQ to our Sunderland family. From day one, they have demonstrated a real enthusiasm and desire to work with the club. To partner with a company that understands our values and who we are is very important to us. “Our partnership will be cemented with the reveal of the new home and away kits next week and we very much look forward to working closely with BETDAQ over the coming months.” Tom Sloanes, commercial director at BETDAQ is a life-long Sunderland fan. Speaking about the new partnership, he said: “Opportunities to partner with a football club the size of Sunderland AFC rarely come along, so we had no hesitation to act when it became a possibility. “As a fan, I can see that there is so much positivity around the club at the moment and it’s great to be part of that. This partnership provides us with the perfect opportunity to further enhance our growing sports portfolio and we look forward to playing our part in what we all hope will be a great season for Sunderland AFC”.
Why do we always have to have betting companies.. The kids tops look shyte without the sponsor on. I was hoping id be finally able to buy my lads a top this year.
Best deal mate. While we're stuck with adidas we might as well. Donald said he wouldn't have picked the new kits and doubt the fans would so I'd hold of a year anyway if i was you then we're rid of Adidas and Donald said there'll be more effort put in the kits. Never know. It might be Hummel.
Agreed wholeheartedly Tees. I'm sick of these betting sponsorships, why can't we have something everyone can relate too like Yorkshire Tea or Aunt Bessies Yorkshire puddings or can't understand why we haven't got Nissan banging on our door to sign up. I'm not a gambler and an fed up with football's love affair with all forms of gambling. Rant over.
Yes thats obviously the case and its just another sad reflection of how football is today. I refuse to pay 120 quid again this year (or whatever it is for 2 kits for my lads), for a plain stripey kids football jersey with the Sunderland badge on. They look nothing like the official kit without the sponsor, and im sure a fair few other parents wont either, so as a club we'll be down on merchandise sales.
I agree 100% Cumbria, I've been going on about this for years. I can't understand why it's allowed as, along with drugs and alcohol, gambling debt is one of the main causes of crime.
Buy them England kits instead mate Sunderland need to start to get things like this right. I understand the financial need for sponsorship, but it shouldn't come at the cost of alienating the fan base. From another angle on this, I won't wear a top with some betting company splashed all over it Are we still in contract with Satsuma Loans - a subsidiary of the Provy? They are horrible - knocking on OAP's doors and pressuring them to sign up for loans that they didn't want or need in the first place
Exactly mate. A kid wants to be able to emulate their favourite players when playing footy in their kit, not look like theyve just bought a plain looking copy from a Market stall.
Don't some clubs put other logos on the kid's kits? Like the logos of charities that they're linked to. That's a bit better than them just being plain but it still doesn't look like the proper kit. I know its rules but I used to run around with Vaux written on me as a child and no one got upset that I had the name of a brewery written on my top.
Yeah, I think there might have been. You can definitely get adult ones with the charity's logo in the centre of the chest anyway.
Totally agree, my boys top's look c**p without the sponsor!!! He's 10 and I don't think that have a betting sponsor is going to be the reason if he ever does start gambling!!!! Stupid ruling, I think that as parents WE should deicide whether or not it right for my child to wear it...
It’s ****ing ridiculous really. Like they don’t see the adverts in the stands or watch the games? And like a 10 year old is gonna crack open an account and start backing the horses? Behave. I had Vaux in every kit as a young lad and my love of drink is purely coincidental.
YOU WERE DRIVEN TO DRINK BY YOUR LOVE FOR THE THE CLUB AND THOSE NASTY DRINKS PEOPLE, NOT YOUR FAULT MATE YOU SHOULD MAKE A CLAIM
