I think Karius was bought as a no.2 keeper otherwise he would have replaced Mignolet almost immediately, he didn't. It was a warning to Mignolet to buck up.
I think Klopp could replicate this strategy if he signed Donnarumma - another young keeper with great potential [as Karius was supposed to be]. Unfortunately the days of cheap GK's are over, you'll see the world record continuously broken in the next couple of windows. I said in an earlier post I was against spending too much on a keeper a while back, I then listened to a pod cast from Mel Reddy and she talks so much sense.
GK is such an important position, it's the difference between winning and losing more often than not.
