As a neutral, Hendo has been the best England midfielder, but that isn't saying much among some poor performing players. Alli has been utter balls, but never gets a mention due to being a media darling. Hendo is a DM and has done his job well and he'll be key against Sweden.

I'm hoping that England go out and play some good stuff. Sweden are a decent well organised team but shouldn't scare England too much with their play. England in theory should be able to go out there and play more than they did against Belgium and Colombia, without the fear of any superstar players punishing them. But some of our players like Alli really need to up their game!

What I've noticed is as soon as we criticise a player, he plays very well. Dele to score vs Sweden.

I think the England team have been let down by the "creative" trio; Alli, Sterling and Lingard.

Credit where it's due, Lingard as at least tried to make something happen but none of them have really created a thing.

Sterling's made good runs into channels but doesn't know what to do with it once he gets there.

Alli is clearly suffering from injuries and is being treated as the new Beckham/Rooney in the 'he must play at all costs' approach. Personally, I think he's highly overrated anyway.

Lingard is trying but it isn't quite happening for him. Lack of movement and quality around him maybe?

Reverse psychology is one strategy but what's been working best are the ''what's he even doing on the pitch'' - ''I love Firmino but I don't want him to score today'' comments that have been real, honest comments that have backfired massively i.e. you have to really mean what you're saying in order for the opposite to happen <laugh>

World Cup 2018: Everything you need to know about penalty shootouts - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44641247

Obviously, that was written prior to the knockout games but I found this bit quite interesting...

"Of the sides that have made it to the last 16 this time round, hosts Russia, Denmark, Croatia and Colombia have never been involved in a World Cup penalty shootout... yet."

...All four of them were involved in separate penalty shootouts in the last sixteen and only four games were decided on penalties. What were the odds on that?

Just seen the report saying Pickford was given penalty info on his water bottle.

Why as the entire set-up turned to idiots?

Do they not realise there is a possibility of another shootout?

They've already told the world that they all picked a spot to aim at and practiced over and over again so they're unlikely to put their penalty anywhere else.

If they insist on telling the world, why not wait until the tournament is over?

Sweden may not have any big names, but they are a well organised team and will be more dangerous than Colombia were

The last time England played Sweden at a World Cup
England played Sweden at a World Cup, with Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard scoring in a 2-2 draw in Cologne in 2006.
