has Mark sewn up the Shaqiri transfer? Do we want him? Will his price double if he stars against Sweden? what if he puts England out? what if he's crap this afternoon?

 

If Liverpool's interest is real none of that matters. Although it does remind me of a joke I saw around the time Ox was rumoured to be going there:

Wow! Imagine if we sign Shaqiri. Our front three would be Mané, Firminho and Salah.

 

I fear his WC performances will have priced him out of a move to ourselves. Given his release fee, his wages will be enormous. He'd have to REALLY like Mark Hughes for it to happen (would love it though).

 

I read something this morning that his agent thought he could get between £100-120k a week at Liverpool but spend most of his time on the bench at best so was weighing up Saints where he would earn a lot less but play a lot more?

The key transfer will be at CB; and, with luck, it'll be the (huge) commanding lad from Copenhagen. International caps, quality experience German League whats not to like. Just the fee to be agreed it would seem

 

Only thing not to like is how spectacularly slow he (apparently) is. Still, never really harmed those that read the game well, which he also apparently does. So...

 

Yep CB is a vital area for us, as is back up GK, i'd shudder if Alex picked up a pre-season injury *touches wood that he doesn't.*

With Boufal leaving we badly need another wide player. You don't lose Tadic and Boufal and replace with one player

Even with Tadic and Boufal we needed another wide player.
So we need to recruit 3, unless we plan on giving Sims more game time.

 

2 will be ok for me, let Sims get game time and have Redmond as well

Three attackers would be ideal, but if we're getting two, they need to have serious quality. Elyounoussi is a good start there; need another of that ilk though, not a Redmond-calibre squad player.

 

We'd be set if it were Promes... but that looks in serious doubt if the reports are true.

 

I still really want Alireza Jahanbakhsh. Didn't have a great World Cup, and might be off elsewhere, but like Elyounoussi he's a seriously talented do-it-all wide player whose surname is 11 letters long, so he fits the mold.
