I think they’ll be fine once they don’t underestimate the oppo, too much gazing into the distance will weaken you
Yes, and that's why all this talk of a clear route to the final is premature bollocks. Colombia is a big test. If England get through this well, then there are some grounds for cautious optimism. I'm looking forward to it, but it's going to be edge of the seat stuff.
Columbia are a very good team and no walk-over. We have already seen what theoretically worse teams, such as Russia and Japan, are capable. Their key weapon is a very fast and effective counter-attact. If we (England) stay orgainsed and in shape, especially defesively, then there should be enough quality to win. But I am expecting as tough match. It may be won on the "psychological" factor of who will be mentally the stronger.
What scares me about the England team is that the B squad were played the other night and did not look good, even though we have one system and it's been drilled in to them for a long while. Why weren't they able to carry it out well? Also, they looked low on confidence... there were several passes that could have been made; they may have been intercepted or they may have been great passes. But we won't find out until they try them. But they were too afraid to try. So... it looks like we don't have much depth. Hopefully we can get to at least the quarters with our best squad. Anything beyond that is purely a bonus and surprise.
go on eric!. ****ing neymar the diving poncy gimp, i hope belgium knock out brazil and we see his streams of tears flow
At last! The battle of the neutrals in a stadium with quite a few empty seats. Whatever the result, let’s hope it’s all very good natured, no one gets hurt, and any disputes are taken through a 3rd party administered arbitration process. The Swedes all look gigantic. Perhaps it’s the shirts, and being up against a team of less well nourished Albanians. ****ing Mark Lawrenson.
Hope they kick the **** out of each other, personally. Once we’ve overcome the exceptionally simple task tonight it’ll make it EVEN easier to win the QF.
It’s the other half of the draw which is getting my attention now, trying to work out the easiest team for us to play in the final.
Switzerland will suit England perfectly in the QF, Sweden not so much. If I were English I would cheer for the Swiss.
In the interests of quality I’m just hoping somebody scores in the 90 minutes, so we don’t have to watch any more. I suppose I should be hoping for a bitter extra time duel with 8 sendings off and plenty of injuries. Hooray, the Swedes have it. But the Swiss usually leave it late.
