Black Cats boss Jack Ross confirmed last week that all players due back for the first day had reported for duty. Ndong and Djilobodji, however, were due to return today after their loans at Watford and Dijon ended. Both players are keen to leave the club this summer, with Sunderland equally eager to move them on. Both players have interest from other clubs but with no deal imminent, they remain contracted to the club and as such are expected to report. What’s it really like to live in Newcastle upon Tyne? From bold Northern fortress town to gritty, industrial city, Newcastle has seen it all. These days, the ‘Toon’ has undergone yet another ... Promoted by OneDome The Black Cats are now likely to consider legal advice should the players continue to stay away. They are two of a number of players heading for the exits as transfer business picks up on Wearside. The club are in talks over the potential departure of six players as Jack Ross continues his extensive squad overhaul. Lamine Kone is one such player expected to depart. The Ivory Coast defender did report for training last week but has not gone on the pre-season training camp in Portugal after informing club management that he did not wish to play for the club. He is continuing to train at the Academy of Light while talks over his future continue. Wahbi Khazri and Bryan Oviedo are also absent from the club's training camp but they have been given an extra two weeks to recover from World Cup duty after featuring for Tunisia and Costa Rica. Both could have found new clubs before that point. Jack Ross has taken a threadbare squad to Portugal, though new signings Dylan McGeouch and Reece James will join up with their new team-mates imminently. Aiden McGeady has remained on Wearside but that is merely due to a minor injury picked up in training last week. He could depart this summer should the club field a significant bid but in the interim he does have a first team future under Ross. N’Dong and Papy have failed to report for their first day back today. Kone reporter for training but has stayed behind at the AOL claiming he doesn’t want to stay.
I think it’s great. At least Rodwell did what he had to to get paid. Or, looking at it the other way... at least these 2 have given us the option to not pay them!!!
"Sunderland director Charlie Methven said: “Papy Djilobodji and Didier Ndong were both due to return for pre-season training at Sunderland today but did not do so. The club will therefore begin internal disciplinary proceedings against them, and will decide what measures to take in the circumstances.” "Sunderland will now begin internal disciplinary proceedings against the pair which could mean they face fines or - depending whether they report back late or not all - potentially more serious measures." Whats more serious than fines?
There is a downside though. 1 - Clubs try to avoid signing awkward players although exceptions are usually made for those who are exceptionally talented. Sadly, these two aint!!!!. 2 - Buying Clubs, specially if they have paid good money, expect players to arrive fir and ready to hit the ground running. They are unlikely to be either if they miss training.
At least in this case the club has the power. Foolish of the players to let that happen, surely doing the bare minimum is more sensible. As aggravating as it is for the fans.
Just wondering if we could take some form of action against their agents, as they are obviously advising their clients.
Just odd because when it comes to money they're usually geniuses at squeezing every penny out of a club.
They obviously think they are above playing in the 3rd tier of English football which is LAUGHABLE as both of them are completely and utterly SH ITE
Mostly it's their agents who do that. And I suspect that their respective Agents are not going to be particularly pleased with their respective clients because this sort of action doesn't encourage buyers or reduces any fee. Either of these outcomes means less commission.
Typical modern day ****e footballers. Both have little to no talent and are robbing a very good living. Makes me sick that there are people in this world with so little appreciation. How's about taking some responsibility for the role they have played in our demise and actually being committed to your employer until you can find a new one. Imagine if one of us wanted to leave our jobs so just decided to not turn up. Instant dismissal on the grounds of gross misconduct with no statutory pay. Why should these ****s be any different.
