I don't see any gain for us in selling Anton. Seems a daft sale, he's good to have in the squad, unless it's £5million plus, then it is probably a wee bit justified.
Bit miffed at this one due to his decent start to the season and partnership with Brown, however he might want away for personal reason so in that case get Onouha in.
BB - if we can get back 4m or 5m and offload another 35k/40k per week (I reckon he is on that at least) on the wage bill, which triggers the signing of |Cisse and Bellamy I'd be orgasmic. Not an Anton hater at all but we do have Brown, Bramble, Turner and young Laing now to cover this position. Also, O Shea can operate at CH so lots of cover really.
He is also in the last year of his contract as well, and I just dont think he is consistent enough to be given another one, so he would probably walk for nothing next season, so better to recoup some of the outlay Drummaville and Keane spent on him (remember it wasnt Short or Bruce so anything we get is all Profit)
I really cant see us getting much for him, how long does he have remaining on his contract. Probs be a free or a small fee like £1 million. For that we would be better off keeping him.
I didnt realise he had one year left though BB. We could sell him for 1m and save 2m in wages (if he is on 40k per week) and thats 3m to put towards other priorities such as a striker in the calibre of Cisse. I'm sure if Anton going for that deal got your man Cisse in, you wouldnt be so unhappy?
It's still bollocks Cest mate. They are desperate and nouveau rich, we shouldn't be caving like that.
I dont think they are that rich, the owner paid 100 million for them, but his net worth is only 300 million, its not bernie and flavio anymore I still think its an OK deal though, as he will probably walk for free after this season.
It's true he ain't a multi billionaire mate, but his wealth is rising very quickly indeed, and they are desperately short at CB. They'd pay £3million, i'm sure of it.
Good decision! Yes he has been playing well this season, but I think that is down to the 'Brown factor', I can see him having a similar stabilising effect on Turner and/or Bramble. No way was Bruce going to keep this lot happy in the reserves so one going is not a hardship to us. O'Shea can play there too and Young Laing will feature more and more in the coming seasons. More importantly it frees up £40k per week to the wage bill -Bruce's main target- to pay for the in-coming signings.
Anton put some good shifts for us in uncomfortable games. What if O'Shea and Brown get injured - not unlikely. Bruce had better have a good reason for this. Either £1m now or nowt at the end of this season. Not a big loss in the bloated, sky-driven premiership. x
