Blimey the "Dortmund RB on loan" half-rumour appears to be accurate. Felix Passlack expected to join imminently. 20 year old RB who can also cover LB, season loan expected.
Well it's all happening isn't it! He can also play as a wingback or further up the pitch. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...ia-dortmund-defender-felix-passlack-1-5587809
As Michael Bailey asks, surely this means Pinto is on his way out? He's a high earner and out of contract next summer, with Marshall, Passlack and Aarons as competition. I doubt Dortmund would have sanctioned a move without reassurances over playing time? I don't see how we can keep 4 RB/RWB options happy, particularly when we have 3 options on the left too.
Well we’ve gone from weak at right back to overstocked so it would seem that Pinto may be on the way out
Perhaps Aarons will go out on loan to get experience and then come back next year. As MB says it also frees up Marshall to play WR. In that case, Pinto could stay on for his final year with Marshall as the third option in case of injury.
I like Passlack's comment on the official site: “It’s my first time in England and it was a dream as a child and I am very happy to be here. I think that English football is perfect for me as it's strong like myself and I like the style of play. I’ve played with Mo Leitner at Dortmund and Christoph Zimmermann and it’s good to know some players here and I’m looking forward to the new season.” No problem with English then.
With it being yet another overseas signing too, surely that must indicate the UK players we do have are all in contention for the first time, rather than being considered for loans out? Having said that, below is an all-overseas XI with a perfectly functional bench, with Aarons, Raggett and Husband not included. So perhaps things aren't quite critical yet. McGovern Pinto Klose Zimmerman Passlack Tettey Trybull Hernandez Leitner Buendia Pukki Bench: Matthews, Hanley, Lewis, Godfrey, Marshall, Cantwell, Morris
I really like Pinto tbf but as said previously a high earned with a year left on his contract, unlikely to re-sign within the wage budget, possibly time to sell unfortunately
I can see Aaron’s going out on loan. Passlack surely signed as first choice with Marshall as back up. Marshall or Hernandez to play in front of them
Dan O'Hagan, who knows German football: "OK, it’s only a loan but man alive, THIS is a signing to get properly excited about. Ignore his form at Hoffenheim last season, it was the wrong loan for him. #NCFC"
Is Passlack an official signing?! He is incredible! He's one of Germany's highest rated youngsters!! Farke's German connections finally paying off!? This would be the biggest "name" he would have managed to bring in. That would be a massive sign to the fans that they can bring in some class in this set up. This would be the most exciting signing so far if true.
While we're all keyed into Passlack, there's another piece of news from the BBC: "Norwich City's Steven Naismith will return to Hearts for a second loan spell in the coming season. The Scotland attacker, 31, joined the Edinburgh club on loan in January, making 16 appearances and scoring four goals. Naismith, who has 45 caps, has a year remaining on his Norwich contract. He becomes Hearts boss Craig Levein's 11th summer addition, as he bids to improve on last season's sixth-placed Scottish Premiership finish."
