It is the nature of the coverage though. Both BBC and ITV have decided to have a pundit from one of the teams on there and then just goad them for the whole game, kept asking Fabregas clearly leading questions earlier when Spain were on
I actually watched the last 30 minutes in my workplace in the hotel. Everybody was watching, staff and guest. We didn't even try to do our job. The highlight was when the match finished and when we stopped celebrating, one guest who was watching the penalty shootout with us just went - can I pay my room bill now
Not very much after watching this. We were very poor, had no idea how to break them down and generally look bewildered and confused. We got a lucky break but we need to be much better against Russia.
Seems fair. You've got a very balanced team but were actually pretty poor tonight from what I saw. All about getting through at this stage though right Russia game will be very interesting.
But Denmark are a strong team. 16 matches unbeaten run, 17 if you count tonight. Organised, very difficult to break down.
I noticed that too, but two wrongs don't make it right! Thought they had an assistant on the line to watch for that, clearly not.
This is starting to feel like when we suddenly found ourselves playing Wigan rather than Man City last season. We started thinking that the football gods were with us; there would never be a better opportunity to win the Cup. The only tiny flaw in this thinking was that it did require Saints to win games. I hope that the difference in this scenario is that England will be the "yeah ok, they won but they're still horrible" team rather than the "knew they'd lose when they played anyone good" team. Think Man Utd and Saints!
Out of that list above, Colombia is by some distance the most frightening opponent. And I still haven't found a way out of working tomorrow night...
I have been in my current job for 3 years and haven't been sick once yet, so I'm tempted. I've actually held throwing a sickie in reserve until I have a really good reason. Might have to remind them of that. Thing is, they've been pretty good whenever Rupert Murdoch and the PL have ****ed with the fixture list and I've had to do last minute swaps etc to get to Saints games. Plus I have elderly parents and may need time off at short notice. Don't want to blow the goodwill. But this game is ****ing massive...
Are Colombia actually that good, Not sure why everyone keeps building them up. They certainly aren't any better than us and we aren't actually world beaters. Yet!!!!
