Gomez is leaving this summer

 

We were desperate for a striker who could score....but very hard to sign someone in January. We only needed him to score a couple of goals and secure a few points, but he either didn't suit us or was never EPL standard. Get some money back on him and cut losses. It does seem that we are entering a new phase...Hughes won't be able to complain that Saints haven't tried to give him the tools to work with. Down to him now.

 

Well yeah I get that we needed a striker, but we had sold VVD as well so could really have thrown money at someone the whole club wanted. If Carrillo is sold this summer after not really getting a chance to settle then it will just show that only Pellegrino had any faith in him, so would go down as a very strange signing.

 

I agree....and my guess would be that they were still hoping they wouldn't have to sack him. As it was....Carrillo was just the nail in his coffin.

 

I think a loan deal for Forster is the best deal we will get.

 

I'm tipping Watford to go down this season.

I see the "surprise" player, was in fact, not surprising to us at all haha.

 

Breaking on some Facebook Forums that Corrillio is off to Leganes to follow MP on a seasons loan. Sure they would rather sell but not sure who would spend good money on him so at least a loan will cover his annual wage

 

Can't see that happening. Cut price deal maybe, but not a loan.

 

There is no way Leganes will be able to pay anywhere near what Carrillo is on, if it is a loan we will be paying most of his wages

 

I find it almost as interesting that we are moving (or attempting to move) some players on as it is to see the people we are trying to buy. We are in the process of good housekeeping which will give Hughes the team he wants by buying players in and shifting players on that he doesn't want. Tadic being the exception in that Mark wanted to keep him, but not by force majeure.

 

What I was thinking. Not sure they could afford anywhere near what we're looking for fee wise either.

 

Their record transfer fee is €3m apparently, seems legit they could pay probably £50k+ a week and close to the £20m we spent.

 

The club may well be pragmatic and settle for reducing their wage bill by loaning players out if they can't sell them. Or even sell at a lower price if the bottom line works out. Paying half a player's wage has to be better than paying all of it. And also they don't have disenchanted players hanging around.
