I feel Chelsea's offering for Raul Meireles is very disrespectful!

Last season Meireles settled brilliantly into English football, built up a nice goal tally and won PFA player of the year. He has been a big part of the Liverpool team.

Benayoun is surplus to requirements at Chelsea, in his 30's and nearing the end of his career. He is just coming back from a major injury, and even though I am a big fan of Yossi, I don't think he is worth that much. Chelsea signed Yossi for around £5-6million last summer, and if any thing he has gone down in value (I hate talking about people like products).

I am aware Chelsea also offered £8million.

    What are your guys opinions?

Well technically the person is not a product. They are bidding on a service not a product. Only Ronaldo considers(considered) himself a slave that is owned by a team and forced to do pittence on a minimal wage. ;)

If I'm bidding on a used car at a dealership- I'd be prepared to be disrespectfull and bid low first. It's not a matter of respect- it's a matter of Chelsea consdering it's worth a shot. I mean... if I can buy a 1990 Kia Rio for £35,000 - even if it is worth £100,000- I will. Worst thing the dealership can do is say no- and counter with a higher price... it's haggling... in the end I'm no mug- and I'll probably be able to get the Kia Rio for a sweet £40,000 .

Milk has it nailed on there. Although I would question his choice of car...

I think we're all talking far too low for him to be honest. We signed him for £10m last summer, he's impressed this year - so why is everyone saying "Sell him for £12-13m." In today's market we could be asking for £15-£18m simply because of the 5 goals he scored from midfield last season.

Hes worth what you paid for him. Yes he came into his own last season but lets be honest here, hes not that good. It wasnt that long back Liverpool fans were annoyed if he was in the starting line up. Same with that Maxi guy. Suddenly a few goals and hes worth 5million more.

    Nope.

If you don't pay more for players that score more goals, then what do you pay more for them for? Assists? Meireles has them too. General play? Yep, he's pretty good at passing too.

So Modric is quoted at £40mil and Meireles is quoted at £8mil??? What is that all about? If they offer silly money like they would get him something like £25-£30mil.

I don't remember anyone being upset about him being in the first 11, heck even now with our abundance of central midfielders some fans shoehorn him in to a fantasy LFC XI

You bought him for about the same money that chelsea offered, its hardly disrespectful. His value should not change much in 1 year as he is as good now as he was when he joined Liverpool.

we brought him for £11.5m, and has proved he can handle the faster flowing, tougher style of the league, that can sometimes be almost priceless.

one year can make a vast difference in player prices/values. Andy Carroll, Bebe, Gareth Bale & Charlie Adam are all great examples of this

It was obvious that he could play in the prem. Its not like you signed him from an average team.

    Exactly <ok>

We did offer Benyoun aswell, who we paid 5m for and granted he hasn't played all season but he did get a serious injury...
An offer can't be disrespectful, we're hardly going to put in a massive offer straight away.

All of those players are younger than Meireles. People pay more for potential.

That doesn't follow at all... Morientes, Veron etc...

Did you watch him week in, week out during his time at Porto? If not, then you can't really comment on whether he's improved or not.

Well Chavski gave us 50mill for Nando and he's **** now so I hardly think £20mill plus Sturridge is unrealistic for a player who performed at least as well as Plodric last year <ok> either let us rip you off again or get your oily mits off
