This would have pleased my old Nan no end. Her favourite author was Dickens. Although this wasn’t her favourite of his books.
On the flip side to all the doom and gloom. Humber Street goes from strength to strength. Revamp of the indoor market with addition of all the food stalls has been a success. The craft beer stall has just opened its micro brewery and Tapasya (the posh Indian on marina) has just opened up. Paragon arcade has come on leaps and bounds since the new owners came in. Two gingers in an excellent independent coffee shop. Kingston House transformation is looking decent. Ground floor units seem to be getting snapped up. Successful period drama and a feature film with some top names connected to it filmed in the old town in the space of a few weeks. I could go on, but suffice to say we've come on a long way in the last couple of years. In large part due the the city of culture and dare I say it the city council.
Anybody been in Ye Olds Corn Exchange since Atom took it over ??? £11,60p for 2 real ales. 2 pints if Atom in Furleys £6,80. Work that one out
I'm sure I had a pint of Atom beer in Minerva for a 'normal' price recently, £3-odd? Mind you it might have been the 2.5% stuff, I was driving...
They do a decent number of beers. The craft ones are stupid prices, but the cask ales are more sensibly priced. I'd recommend White Hart (not Ye olde) at the mo. They have a good selection and are on Untappd so you can plan ahead.
I was in there for one Friday, nice beer and the juke box was good, but the food is extortionate and the pool tables ****
Apparently has one of only eleven remaining ceramic bars in the UK. One of the others is in polar bear. FACTAMUNDO!
It has a circular bar. Which I think is also a pretty rare thing these days. Don't think the bar is ceramic but it has that fancy pillar behind which may have ceramic detailing.
I think you’re right It’s the pillar I was thinking about Last time I was in I’d just had the back of my knee tattooed so I wasn’t seeing the bar clearly though my tears!
Can never forget copping off with this siouxisue lookalike in dram shop in the 80's. Corrrrr All leather n chains n black eyeliner. **** knows what she had on
