I still think RvW could have worked out if he'd have had better service. It's never just about one player. Everybody plays better if the whole team clicks. I think we have the right players now to provide the service Pukki needs to score regularly.
I agree Rick, he was scoring for fun before he came here and scoring for fun, including Champions League when he left here and still some on here blame him
When RvW came here he was making lots of intelligent runs through the lines and in between defenders but we didn’t have someone capable of supplying the ball to match, so often I saw him make a good run and it was ignored in favour of a sideways pass
I think that's possible, but it might look more like: Matthews Hanley Zimmerman Klose Marshall Tettey Trybull Lewis Leitner Pukki Srbeny Leitner could link up play as a slightly deeper playmaker influencing the rhythm and pace of play with the WBs providing the width.
I like the look of that. Apart for Srbeny. But do you really think he would play 2 strikers?! He doesn't do that even when we are 1 down in a game!
That could depend on Pukki's skill set playing off Srbeny and creating movement up front. When the ball is lost, Leitner could drop back into two ranks of 4 with Lewis dropping back to a LB position and Marshall providing an outlet on the right when the ball is won back.
Read Norwich have done a piece on the various formations we could adopt next year https://readnorwich.com/2018/07/01/what-formation-could-norwich-go-with-next-season/
Another good formation and one we could use post Madders, with Leitner playing as a deep playmaker. My formation above was searching for how we might play with two strikers.
McLean will be a key player for sure, which is why we could see much more variety in formations and starting lineups.
But he had players he could gave tried it with. Pace up front, play Murphy with Srbeny. Or one of the youngsters? Let the players who would be staying have some practice in the formation. Do you really think he will go two up top? really? Bah!
