Cosi you clearly dislike Senna for whatever reason but your jumping on his error at the start of the race like you are doing is going a little too far. Surely if you look at the facts that he has not driven the car in the dry at all this weekend, he has not driven the car with high fuel at all this weekend, that he was on a very tight inside line going into the corner, all help to explain why he made the mistake he did. So yes he made a mistake at the start of the race but he also had a excellent qualifying session in the most difficult of circumstances and outperformed his team mate, he also had a good recovery after his mistake and needing to pit for a new front wing and also serve his penalty. So in my opinion he has had a very promising start. EDIT: Also to say he is a slow learner or anything is not really fair when you look at how quickly he came up through the lower formulas, especially when you think that he stopped racing for 10 years.
Spot on. You don't get tons of podiums by being crap. When Senna gets a podium, then i shall start thinking that he's as good as heidfeld.
Hi ! I am quite happy for people to disagree with my view; after all, it is only a statement of opinion. However, I'd like to make it clear that I do not "dislike Senna" and have nothing personal against him whatsoever. I have also acknowledged his creditable qualifying, regardless of any difficulties his team-mate may have suffered. I have also acknowledged that he has talent and can drive a car quickly. To clarify: I hope Senna does well and that he is soon able to fully justify Renault's decision as a racing driver on track with 23 other cars. By no means is this a retraction of anything I have previously said; all of which is a true statement of my opinion alone, even if shared by others. In a forum I would expect nothing less than to find views that differ from mine, which is part of the reason I am here; but I applaud the way the arguments against my view have been presented, which show that this forum has some real depth of quality! My thanks to all concerned, particularly Miggins and Mifune.
I think you defend Bruno Senna too much, he's not the driver you make him out to be, and it's probably because of who his Uncle is. I've said it before and i'll say it again, if he were called Bruno Jones, he wouldn't have a seat in F1, and you wouldn't jump to his defence so readily.
I think if there was 1 driver that the public would want to see win a WDC it would be a Senna, and then let the past go...
Where have I made him out to be any driver? I believe I have never said he is brilliant or anything, I have merely appealed for people to give him a fair chance free on any prejudices. It just annoys me when people think he is only in F1 because of his name and slate him because of that while ignoring the arguments that he deserves to be in F1 on merit. And FYI I do not "jump to his defence so readily" because he is called 'Senna', I have also defended drivers who do not a famous surname such as Hulkenberg who are in a similar situation. Fair enough.
Have to agree with mifune... I don't see that opinion as unjustified defense at all, why be against giving Bruno a fair crack at the job. That's it.
It puzzles me that people think so poorly of him, yet rate Chandhok who he outperformed easily in the HRT, I feel it's a bit the same with Jaques Villeneuve, an undeserving champion as he was not Gilles.
This one has long puzzled me too. I always put it down to Chandhok's charm and media skills. It's certainly not his driving; he was shockingly bad in the Lotus a few weeks back. Senna's name may well have helped him in his early days to get started in lower formulae but it's been a bit of a millstone for him recently. It isn't just Bruno though, there is a tendency to rush to judge the new drivers and usually harshly. The likes of Vettel and Hamilton, talent aside, have been extremely lucky to be nurtured to the degree that they were but this is not the case for most of the novices who have to learn the hard way. Senna, Alguersuari, Maldonado and Hulkenberg have all been victims of this recently and I'm sure there are more. Maybe I should be kinder to Chandhok!
