On their way home after the group stages:

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria.

    Conclusion:

Praying 5 times a day is a complete waste of fecking time

If the next seven games for this stage are half as good as this one then we're all in for a treat. Terrific game.

2nd goal for France was my favourite goal of the tournemant. The technique and the occasion... From a full back.... Superb!

Two big stars out on the same day, Uruguay are so difficult to play against as they all put in a shift mind their two goals weren't shabby either.

The most cynical team in the competition are going home tonight and its good riddance. They made a game of it, but the real pleasure was that football triumphed, thanks to the French who we might just be playing in the final. Here's hoping.

I’ve got France in the sweepstake at work, so I’m buzzing.

Glad Portugal are out, as much as he’s a phenomenal player I just can’t get away with Ronny.

Redemption: Only 9 minutes earlier Pavard got beat, grabbed a shirt and surrendered a free kick - which went to Messi, whose shot eventually found the back of the net after being redirected by Mercado, who was played onside by Pavard, who was the only member of the backline not to step up!

It should be a right old ding-dong. Still think France will win it, but Uruguay are the one team set-up to do them over.

They are frightening. Can’t see past France at the moment. Yesterday, they could have easily scored 6 or 7 against Argentina! Mbappe is a joy to behold.

And people say we'll be a real threat in a few years time! Imagine what the French'll be like! Now's as good a chance for me as we'll ever get
