The ball retention from France has been appalling. The Argentines have been getting down that left side of the French defence all afternoon. Mascherano has been immense thus far. Apart from Griezmann and Mbappe, who is still a boy but conducts himself like a mature man, Argentina have been the better team slipping passes in and around the French defenders. Sooner or later it will happen in the French penalti área... the rest we know. Not sure who the winners plays, (if it is Uruguay - assuming they knock out Portugal - we will have the battle of "River Plate")
Maybe because they play in the "Old Skool" style with short, crisp passing in the middle of the park whereas a number of European teams rely on pace and athleticism rather than the finer arts. Maybe he has bet on them after being written off and dismissed as useless. Maybe he has an Argentine wife/girlfriend.
We don´t know what the prize is for the sweepstake? If is big, then why not cheer on Argentina? As a footnote, I remember Brazil barely scraping out of the qualifying games pre. the 2002 tournament. And look what happened? Argentina are quite capable of winning this Mundial.
