so they deliberately went out to lose the game then and that means they could have stopped that Belgium goal if they felt like. Give me a break.
For those who are sick of all the so-called England hype here's a balanced view by the Telegraph's Daniel Zeqiri. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-c...cerns-england-going-world-cup-knockout-stages So, France or Argentina? I'd go with France although neither have looked very convincing.
I am still hoping Belgium win it, but still think Spain or Brazil will come good. Whilst I am no lover of the World cup and all the hype that goes with it, there are to many pointless games in the group stage, I actually quite like it when it gets to knock out stage, you actually get some meaningful football.
Yes, I know what you mean. In some respects the Euros is a better quality competition from the outset. But if the World Cup was purely for the best 32 countries in the world you might as well rename it the Euro-South American Cup. The World Cup is a bit of a world party though and it's great to see a stadium full of noisy and colourful Central American or African fans. I've not heard any mention of violence whatsover. Has there really been none or have the Russians kept it out of the news. I'm not sure they could?
1 or 2 games, the rest are poor, did you watch Poland v japan where they are playing for a 1-0 loss, pathetic and something needs to be done about it, a team going through on 1 less booking is nothing to do with football. I think they said 10 from Europe 4 form South America says it all really, the Euros is a far better and more meaningful tournament in terms of having the best sides there.
The rest of the games were poor in your opinion. Ask the fans of the countries involved if they were poor. This isn’t gung ho Premiership football, this is International football which quite often can be like a game of chess. As a coach I thought you would appreciate the tactics involved in qualifying through a three game process. Many people slated off the Euros because there were too many “poor” teams included. Those “poor” teams included Wales and Iceland. What a huge shame that would have been if we hadn't been included. The World Cup is what it is, a chance to see teams and fans from all over the world play different types of football and support their teams in different ways. It would be such a shame to turn it into a glorified European competition. Regarding the booking issue, I would agree with you on that point, but that is separate issue.
no it isn't about gung ho football, but it isn't either about playing a game to lose to make sure you qualify, there have been so many ****e games it has been a massive turn off for me. surely though surely a world cup should be about seeing the best teams in the world playing the best teams in the world, not just having anyone there so we can say look how diverse we are being. just my opinion and I see that you obviously love the world cup experience and enjoy that more than watching some quality football. each to their own. just my opinion mind. where I do agree with you I love the fervour foreign ans put into their support of their sides, but to me it more about the football and not who sings the loudest or who has the most flags
You will be seeing the best teams in the world playing. That will come in the latter stages. It's exactly the same in the Champions League. I always enjoy quality football, but I'm intelligent enough to understand that no matter what football competition I watch there will be plenty of garbage matches along the way. That doesn't make them any less intriguing in my opinion. The bottom line is, if you are only interested in seeing the best sides play, why have you been watching the group stages? Instead of moaning for the last couple of weeks you could have started watching from today.
I take it from that you saying I am thick then and simply not intelligent when it comes to football. . I haven't watched all the games like you say but maybe you know more about me than me, Yes I have moaned as the football has been in the majority poor at best. but am I not entitled to moan about something then if I don't like something, whether you like it or not I will say it. By the way quite enjoying Argentina v France.
Argentina v France. A great game. Just for you to know we are now in the straight knockout stage where different rules, tactics, strategies and personnel will be required. We have entered a period where the games will be more tense, more exciting, more dramatic. But any old fool would know that.
Really enjoyed the game but I do wish the referee had stuck his whistle up his arse. My old granny would have tackled harder than some of the free kicks he was giving.
The WC is head and shoulders better than the Euros and so it should be.....So far it's been the best WC ever and i even liked the mismatched games that gave good entertainment.....The hype for England is justified and are entitled to it as the only British club that qualified and if you think that is hype you should have been around in 1966.....
