    Ki has signed for Newcastle

“The 29-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Magpies and will compete for a place in Rafa Benitez’s midfield alongside Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame.”

Wonder how they will react to someone who played a season for Sunderland?

At the end of last season The consensus was by most if not all on here that the Club should have a massive clear out and that is what the club is doing, So we can't really complain can we....My personal position that i wanted to do was keep the players who could have given us an edge over the rest in bouncing straight back up like Fab, the Ayew brothers, Mawson and a couple of others who are under contract.....I would not under any circumstances get rid of our best players when the vultures came calling expecting cheap pickins...... I think this will end up biting us on the bum. We dont have much time left to recruit any decent players as all the good ones have been snapped up already and we start our pre season tour soon and we dont have a team good enough for Div2 let alone a team wanting to get back to the premiership...I know Pottsy has had a good write up but let's be honest here We dont really know if he can manage at a higher level which the championship is that he is use to.....He has a team that is threadbare now and there is not much time left before we play our first game and it does not look good...

Too right Phil but I already see him as a senior and a deffo starter even if Naughton stays.

We could have a more than decent foundation to the team with a back three of VDH, Bartley, Rodon/Keston Davies with Olson and Roberts as wing backs. Still need back-up on the left so I hope we sign someone or promote Tyler Reid, who's a big lad with a ton of potential (might be a little to soon for him though)

The spine isn't bad for the Championship either, this is Fer's level imo so I can see him doing well and if he doesn't there's Fulton, another player poorly treated with regard to game time imo, Sanchez? say no more. He's another capable CM who should thrive next season given the opportunity.

I still think Carroll will mature and end up running a few teams, he just needs players around him who do their jobs effectively. He links well with Olson on the left and with both feeding McBurnie, a proven Championship goal scorer, up top we could see a good few assists and a goal or two from him.

Not a clue what our right's going to look like what Narsingh's probable departure and Monterro crocked so he can't run as he used to anymore. Maybe another youngster from the U23's or a loan or transfer to fill the wide outside.

We have signed that alleged wunderkinder from Liverpool so he could end up on the right?

If Bony goes we need another Striker, if Narsingh goes another winger, but if we keep what we've got and if Potter can get them playing then I think we're looking good. A couple of big ifs I know but, as George Michael said before he killed himself "You gotta have FAITH"

Off into town now to watch some Aeroplanes <ok>

I have to ask do you honestly believe that having 5 or 6 u23's in the starting 11 with no first team experience will be the way to go in the Championship, will 100% be relegation material. None of them have made any impact and apart from Roberts no first team experience in what is one of the hardest leagues in the world, reality check needed, Ask all the fans from that league how difficult it is and if you underestimate it which I think you are doing, it will bite you on the arse and that could where we will be heading if we don't bring in 5 or 6 Championship quality players. We will be joining Sunderland if we use all those youngsters.

Mcburnie has shown that he can cut it at championship level, Roberts can be our RB, Byers, although not the quickest, deserves a chance and would rather see Jjames than Dyer or Routledge Maric should be on the bench. If J Ayew leaves we should sign someone to play alongside Mcburnie. Remember all the noises seem to suggest we are looking to build a team to get back up but probably not this season.

That's correct so that is why we have to sign some championship experienced players. The decision to send Mcburnie out on loan last season looks a great one with him gaining experience and proving he can score goals at that level. Roberts has shown promise, but we cant go into the start of the season with the likes of Byers, James, Maric Rondon starting none have played any competitive firstteam football. it is just a big risk. I see them playing a part in the season as it progresses. but to hope we will survive starting with those is a big insult to some very very good sides in the league we are playing in.

We look very short on quality and players that can change the game if needed which i think we will need. Potts has got to live up to his so called skill if we are going to survive the championship let alone challenge anywhere near a sniff of making the top two....A sizable amount of money needs to be spent on over valued players now as once again we have missed the boat.....But who would want to risk their career coming here that has the quality we desperately need ......L dont know......

I agree to a degree but would like to see 2 or 3 from the under 23's starting with experienced players. Clucas , Fer , and Carroll are experienced enough and may be better at championship leve, Bartley has experience at that level as has Mawson who in spite of speculation has not said he wants to leave. The bit of the Swedish league I have seen gives me the impression that it is about championship level so perhaps the Oosterunde players we have been linked with will be able to give us something at that level. Petter has said he only wants players who want to play for us so it's goodbye to Naughton and Fernandez and A Ayew and Bony's wages are too high for us. I don't know what the present injury situation is with Clucas, Fer and Mawson so that may have some effect on our business. It's July 1st tomorrow so hope to see some movement this week.

maybe Bartley wont be here. we will need a completely new back 4/3 at this rate.

Transfer window been open for a whole 9 hours and we haven't signed anyone yet. What the **** is going on.

No TLF, certainly wouldn't, but I think I'm being realistic as we both know our hedge fund owner wont be splashing out on many(any) new players. In fact I think they will be dead eye focused on selling their considered premier assets eg Fabs (gone), Messa (gone) and in the 'soon to go' list we have Bony, Mawson, A. Ayew, J. Ayew, Fernandez and anyone they receive a half decent offer for and they wont be 'replacing' anyone.

So, what I'm doing is looking at our options based on the fact we have owners intent on converting our club into cash in their bank accounts. We both know that come August we're going to be left with a bare arsed squad again. We may sign one, maybe two players on the cheap via Sweden but, there wont be any high price, high profile signings tamping at the bit to get us back to the premiership. So we have to rely on the players we have left, after the cull, to compete next year (don't think about promotion, think about being competitive) and all I can see happening is that the hedge-fund will expect us to raid the successful U23's to make up the numbers.

Connor Roberts stepped up seamlessly to play games in the premier league and outshone a seasoned player in Naughton. So I'm hoping that a couple of the players I've mentioned, Rodon in particular, can do the same. Not saying we should immediately start them every game but they should be dripped into games from the bench as the season goes on. They'll have to earn the rite to start like everyone else.

I can't see ay of our players except for Mawson and J. Ayew being wanted by PL clubs. I can see A.Ayew and Bony being offloaded because of their wages. If as reported Fernandez and Naughton want to leave let them go. So who does that leave from last seasons first team squad.
    Goal keepers Nordvelt, Mulder
    Fullbacks: Olssen
    CB's VDH, Bartley
    Midfield Carroll,Clucas,,Fer
    Attack Dyer, Routledge.
I don't know whether I have forgotten anybody but I make that 10 players and when you see it in black and white it makes you realise the size of rebuilding task Potter has on his hands.

There’s also Narsingh but is he off as well?

Both Connor Roberts & McBurnie played (part of) last season, and Daniel James played in the cup.

Also, I guess that Baston & Amat are still our players, as is Grimes?

We are starting to look thread bare, selling players before incoming is not the way to run the club, unbelievable after 7 years in the PL, Jenkins has a lot to answer for..... <ok>
