Down in Brighton all week, wonder if they'll let me off Tuesday afternoon? Looked at today's cards, nothing has caught my eye, either the cards are uninviting or I've got football fever!
Pitmans Derby Natural Scenery, looks to be targetted at this today and 6l behind Vazirabad lto, 2lb lower than 2nd last year. Im on.
well That's the scoop6 losers sorted. Leg 1: 12:20 Newcastle - Shanghai Glory Leg 2: 12:55 Newcastle - Never Back Down Leg 3: 1:10 Newmarket - No Lippy Leg 4: 1:30 Newcastle - Euchen Glen Leg 5: 1:45 Newmarket - Dutch Connection Leg 6: 2:05 Newcastle - Amazing Red
Could someone please set up the Saturday League thread. I don't seem to be able to start a new thread for some reason. Just copy and paste the one from last week. Oddy, I can move a post but can't copy one. Can't start a new conversation either nor select most posts from down the right hand side. Although I can select thread headers. Not sure what's happening here IGNORE - Sorted
I never agreed with moving the Pitmen’s Derby to a synthetic surface, so I shall just be watching Newcastle. No idea why they have Dutch Connection as favourite in the Newmarket 1:45, as he was behind two of today’s rivals last time; and I think he will be behind LARCHMONT LAD again. Tabarrak was between the pair in the John Of Gaunt and may be once more! Whilst Sir Dancealot put up a good performance a week ago in the Diamond Jubilee, I suspect this may come too soon. Most of the rest of the card at HQ is comprised of small fields that are easily bypassed. In the Chester 2:30, I think TANASOQ can defy the rise in the weights for winning the ‘Dash’ on Derby Day as he is well drawn and most of the opposition do not bring great form to inspire any confidence in them. Annoying, I was tipped a different one of Midgley’s runners in the Epsom race – shows how unpredictable sprinters can be! Out of the one box, Acclaim The Nation would be my choice in the 4:50 – it is simple enough for Richard Kingscote: press the button when the gates open! The odds are rubbish, however, so no bet. In the Irish Derby, I simply cannot be having Saxon Warrior (odds on because of where he lives) to reverse the form with DEE EX BEE, who will surely benefit just as much from the more conventional course given his size. I see no reason why Delano Roosevelt, The Pentagon or Knight To Behold should fare any better than at Epsom. I would be delighted to see Old Persian run a big race here but just a week after Royal Ascot he may need more time.
The usual wealth warning... information received from a mate but cannot say I am confident as it has never run on anything but turf before: Newcastle 12:55 – DREAM OF DREAMS
Delano Roosevelt seems to have attracted each way money all morning and, keen as I am to have him onside in this, the one I'm more tempted to at the prices is young Joseph's Latrobe. I feel the potential is there to improve past Platinum Warrior , though that one is obviously a good each way prospect too. Looking down that end as I can't see any value at the top end of the market.
Don't think Mulrennan gave it much of a chance, holding it up right at the back while it was so keen.
I now know that this one will not be winning on the sand. Mulrennan sat at the back getting the sand kicked in his horse’s face, which he clearly did not like, and then finished fast and late to snatch fourth or fifth. Note to self: next time I get a tip for a sand rat, make sure it is not a hold-up horse before parting with cash.
Paralysis by analysis. Withhold won the Cesarewitch lto so easily but instead of taking advantage of the 11/2 available this morning I spend an hour trying to find one to beat him. Sometimes it really is a simple game. . Well done anyone who went with the obvious.
I've gone with my heart on the Irish Derby, silly i know but not often you get a Frankel at 40/1, he was chasing down Old Persian at the end.
