France to turn over Argentina, Uruguay v Portugal 0-0, penalties. Horrible game to referee.

The Uruguay / Portugal game will resemble Henry V... but will the odd bit of football being played (mostly by Ronaldo) around the play acting!

It was nice to see the England game not blighted with players doing 'square boxes' for VAR.

That has ruined the World Cup so far.

VAR was 100% responsible for the highlight this far.

The goal that knocked the krauts out was initially ruled out for offside. VAR review was asked for by Koreans drawing squares in the sky and showed Fritz touching the ball and knocking it to Wong Hung Low to score. Goal given..
Cue scenesof joy at chippy towers.

I predicted the Argies would win after a rather drab affair. Doh!

Don’t buy a lottery ticket any time soon <doh>

The 11/2 I got about France looks good , sadly I only had a tenner on them...

That midfield is so strong & Mbappe looks the potential star of Russia 2018.

    England v France final <whistle>

A really enjoyable day yesterday, with two cracking games.

It’s so nice to be able to enjoy quality football, as opposed to the usual diet of “TTT” - Tedious Takeover Talk :emoticon-0113-sleep:emoticon-0113-sleep:emoticon-0113-sleep

I fancy the Spain / Croatia double today.

I had a bet at the beginning of the tournament at 5-1 for France to win the World Cup. For the first time yesterday they showed that it could be a good bet. Very impressed with Mbappe.

    Croatia won’t make it. IMHO.
Best World Cup for donkeys years. Invention seems to be beating tactical defence.
Hope it stays this way but sooner or later it will get cagey.

There’s too much talk coming out of the England camp for my liking. Put crudely, the team & manager are starting to come across as a bunch of PR pretty boys with their sponsored machine bike competitions etc. We don’t need to know the intricate details of what Southgate told every player when he rested them. The Yes Man is right about one thing, however. Judgement on him will be harsh if England get knocked out on Tuesday night.
Not even the legend Tom Rubashow will be able to spin his way out of that one.

Good post Pavlova. We don't need a 24/7 update service from the England camp. Shut up and do it on the pitch against Columbia. Then do a press conference and get back to work.
Mind you, I'm assuming they haven't yet plumbed the depths of Robbo's pre match gobathons, where he explained in pointless detail what his line up would do, when most fans knew the opposition would have a big say in the match process.
