Just found out we're off to see Queen, with Adam Lambert doing the Freddie Mercury role, next Friday at Glasgow Green! Anyone seen them? Sounds quite good.....
For me it's a tough one. I respect Brian May and Roger Taylor as musicians but for me there is no Queen without Freddy and John Deacon who called it a day after Freddy's death (RIP!) Sure, it will most likely be a good night out but for me 100% not Queen anymore.
I think that's why they add his name, so it's Queen + guest vocalist. Freddie is irreplaceable, but if May and Taylor want to continue to play, why should they drop the name? I wouldn't be going, but they had trouble shifting the tickets at £65 for the day, even though other bands on include Texas, The Darkness, Alabama 3 and Gun, so they've dropped the tickets to £32 for the day - result . So, my next four weekends include all-dayer on Sunday at Glasgow Green for Arctic Monkeys, all-dayer next Friday for Queen, and weekend after that three day festival at Doune the Rabbit Hole - followed by family holiday in Portugal!!!!
