Spain Croatia is a real QF. the other two are **** teams.

England have two average sides but side who can play a team game and tactically get at England... Columbia and imo Switzerland.

England really ought to be in SF and kane ought to have golden boot tied up here...

I go back again.. .walker, stones, maguire... thats where the issues are.

Maguire wants the be central in the back three with Stones in the right birth. Who else plays is a mystery apart from it not being Jones!

Walker and Trippier are equal for me, set play strength wins it for Trippier for me.

Dare I say it, Horrenderson is the player that makes the system work. Dear god, it’s the system!

He's been important to our (Liverpool's) system as well. It's just that some of our fans refuse to see it.

When Henderson is given time and space on the ball and can pick and a forward pass, he’s decent. However, when he’s under pressure and pressed he’s not got the ability to create half a yard, and he invariably spends the game knocking it sideways and backwards.

As a sole DM, I'd expect that player to go safe when pressed. If he loses it, we're in the ****.

When I played football in the Dark Ages we were always told to keep possession, even if it meant a back pass, so I don't have a problem with that.
It takes two to make a pass so if he can't see a decent forward one, and he's under pressure, I would expect him to do exactly what he does.
He's no world-beater, but he's a solid player. Can't ask for more than that, imo. It's why he keeps getting picked.

Henderson isn't great, but he is the best England have got.

TAA was very disappointing, his crossing and set pieces are normally fantastic, but he wasn't on it last night.

Hmmm.. for me maguire will get done no matter where he plays as he's as slow as a cart horse and can't turn for ****.

He's suited to england where its all headers.

Him v neymar 1 on 1 is not a good though so thankfully at worse now it'll be shaqiri

I would agree with you on walker/tripper. Spurs had the right idea shifting walker there. that was good planning. Walker is never a rcb. he will make errors

As far as stones.. meh.. error prone.

I can't say a system works until it plays a real team. Tunisia and panama were league 2.

Can england get away with alli lingard and sterling behind kane and leave henderson on his own v a decent side? I think not.

Loftus cheek is a battering ram. blunt instrument but i think one of those 3 behind kane needs to be dropped to accommodate at least one runniner to drop into a midfield zone.

Thats the problem with all english midfiekders unfortunately. None of them have that technical ability and it’s why most of the English midfiekders are just Work horses in that aspect (Delph, Henderson, dier, Milner). Wiltshire was the only one that could do something on his day.

I’ve no idea how that fella is deemed a DM player, he’s a decent CB and that’s it.

definitely a DM for me in the spurs setup. I think he's an average CB, has too many mistakes in him to be a proper CB but he works well at DM cause he has the defensive nous for it.

I've not seen any outstanding players for England. At a push I'd say Trippier has been the best and the most consistent. Maguire, Rose, Loftus-Cheek, have been awful. Pickford not really been tested much but when he has been he looks distinctly average - he's too short for a keeper and doesn't look fit.

I agree ... but for some reason it is. Same with tackles from behind ... one part of the pitch it's a foul ...inside the box it's a great last ditch tackle.
theoretically it is a foul wherever as even if player gets the ball first but must also take the standing players leg it is an offence . Originally it was meant to be a booking as well but that never really happened.

It's shocking that our players haven't progressed technically when this deficiency was identified years ago. The fact that Wilshere is the only one that offers something different is poor in terms of talent coming through. Do the academies just focus on pace and power and not technical skillful play?

How do they expect England to win the World Cup if we look petrified on the ball when facing the worlds top sides. Even against a second string Belgium side, the players were inadequate at keeping the ball.

As you said, Henderson is like the rest, a basic hard working English midfielder. He looks good at Liverpool because of the quality foreign players surrounding him and Klopp maximising him. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Keita and Fabinho move into your midfield and how it impacts him.

I don't understand this rule change as it's turned into a no contact sport.

Used to be seen as a good tackle if you got ball first. Now if a player gets tackled and there is a follow through you get play acting to hide the good tackle made to save embarrassment.

And you let him go.
